Priapism in children: an experience of the modified Winter procedure
ConclusionPriparism in children is a rare  urological emergency that can lead to permanent erectile dysfunction if prompt medical intervention is not done. The modified Winter procedure technically is a less invasive procedure to achieve satisfactory clinical outcome in terms of achieving good erectile functions. Application of creatinine-based eGFR equations in Chinese septuagenarians and octogenarians
ConclusionNone of the creatinine-based equations in this study could perform well regarding precision, accuracy, and CKD stages ’ classification for the Chinese elderly. Nevertheless, the FAS-Cr equation should be suitable for octogenarians with mGFR lower than 60 ml/min/1.73 m2. (Source: International Urology and Nephrology)

The trend of hypertension-related chronic kidney disease from 1990 to 2019 and its predictions over 25  years: an analysis of the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019
ConclusionsBetween 1990 and 2019, the ASIR of hypertension-related CKD demonstrated an ascending trend, and according to our projections, it would remain on the rise for the next 25  years. With remarkable global population growth, aging, and an increasing number of patients with hypertension, the burden of disease caused by hypertension-related CKD continues to increase. Outcomes of a newly established transitional urology outpatient clinic: a real-world experience
ConclusionOur findings emphasize the importance of patient referral to a TU clinic that deal with lifelong problems of congenital genitourinary diseases. Delays in receiving medical or surgical treatments during transition from childhood to adulthood may be associated with higher need for subsequent surgical interventions in this vulnerable patient population. Stent-free rates in cutaneous ureterostomy urinary diversion after radical cystectomy
AbstractPurposeCutaneous ureterostomy (CU) urinary diversion after radical cystectomy has been relegated to highly comorbid patients due to presumed rates of stenosis and drainage tube dependence. Rates of stricture as high as 70% have been reported. Though a variety of techniques have been developed to obviate the need for prolonged stenting, CU remains uncommonly performed. Herein, we present our experience with CU diversion after radical cystectomy and stent-free rates post-operatively.Materials and methodsWe retrospectively reviewed the records of consecutive patients undergoing radical cystectomy with single-stoma cut...

Effect of obturator nerve block during transurethral resection of bladder tumors on the disease recurrence, progression and surgery outcomes
ConclusionIn our study, we found out that ONB applied in addition to spinal anesthesia increases the rate of complete and muscle tissue resection by decreasing the obturator reflex, and causes a significant reduction in the need for second resection and tumor recurrence. The utility of the ChatGPT artificial intelligence tool for patient education and enquiry in robotic radical prostatectomy
ConclusionChatGPT is a powerful tool and is able to generate accurate and helpful information for patients seeking information regarding urological procedures and their potential complications. It is not, however, infallible, and urologists should remain vigilant in their patient interactions to any potential misinformation a patient may have gathered from it in their personal research prior to surgery. Evaluation of the effectiveness of prophylactic omentopexy during laparoscopic insertion of peritoneal dialysis catheter: a case –control clinical trial
ConclusionProphylactic omentopexy did not cause any significant differences in complications. In addition, there was no benefit for decreasing postoperative outflow obstruction due to omental wrapping following peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion. (Source: International Urology and Nephrology)

The significance of galactose-deficient immunoglobulin A1 staining in kidney diseases with IgA deposition
ConclusionsPIgAN, SIgAN, and MIgAN are caused by the deposition of abnormally glycosylated IgA1 whereas IgA-MGRS is not. The KM55/IgA quantified ratio is valuable in distinguishing PIgAN from SIgAN, as well as MIgAN from IgA-MGRS. (Source: International Urology and Nephrology)

Vaccination and mortality from COVID-19: a comparative study between hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and non-dialysis adult population in Panama
ConclusionNinety one percent of people in the country received BNT162b2 Pfizer BionTech vaccine. Lethality decreased from 30 to 5% once vaccination was available. There were no severe adverse effects and symptoms reported were less frequent than in general population, probably due to low reactogenicity in dialysis patients, or better tolerance to pain. Zonal origin of prostate cancer: comparison of long-term outcomes after radical prostatectomy
ConclusionProstate cancer zonal origin significantly impacts long-term biochemical outcomes in high-risk and margin-negative patients. BN invasion with margin involvement is more frequent in the TZ cancer and can be reduced by pre-operative identification of cancer zonal origin and adjustment of surgical procedures. Long-term interplay between COVID-19 and chronic kidney disease
ConclusionPost-acute COVID-19 care should include close attention to kidney function. Future prospective large-scale studies are needed with long and complete follow-up periods, assessing kidney function using novel markers of kidney function/damage, urinalysis and biopsy studies. Natural killer cells strengthen antitumor activity of cisplatin by immunomodulation and ameliorate cisplatin-induced side effects
ConclusionNK cells could alleviate the side effects of cisplatin treatment and enhance antitumor activity. The combination of NK cells and cisplatin thus provides a promising option for chemoimmunotherapy for bladder cancer. (Source: International Urology and Nephrology)
