Conversations and Reactions Around Severe Hypoglycaemia (CRASH): Results from the German Cohort of a Global Survey of People with Type 1 Diabetes or Insulin-Treated Type 2 Diabetes and Caregivers
Conclusions The survey identified areas for improvement in the prevention and management of severe hypoglycaemic events. For healthcare professionals, these include enquiring more frequently about severe hypoglycaemia and adjusting blood glucose-lowering medication after a severe hypoglycaemic event. For individuals with diabetes and their caregivers, potential improvements include ensuring availability of glucagon at all times. Changes in these areas could lead not only to improved patient wellbeing but also to reduced use of emergency services/hospitalisation and, consequently, lower healthcare costs. Outcomes after Emergency Admission with a Diabetic Foot Attack Indicate a High Rate of Healing and Limb Salvage But Increased Mortality: 18-Month Follow-up Study
Conclusions In a unique population of hospitalised individuals with DFA, we report excellent healing and limb salvage rates using a dedicated protocol in a multidisciplinary setting. An additional novel finding was the concerning observation that such an admission was associated with high 18-month mortality, almost all of which was after discharge from hospital. Role of Dkk2 in the Muscle/bone Interaction of Androgen-Deficient Mice
In conclusion, we showed that androgen deficiency enhances Dkk2 expression and secretion in the muscles of mice. Dkk2 might be involved in androgen deficiency-induced muscle wasting and osteopenia as a myokine linking muscle to bone. Continuous Glucose Monitoring for Glycemic Control in Children and Adolescents Diagnosed with Diabetes Type 1: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Conclusion CGM systems may improve glycemic control in children and adolescents diagnosed with diabetes type 1, but the imprecision of effects is still a problem. Only a few studies examined and reported data for pediatric populations in sufficient detail. Further research is needed to clarify advantages and disadvantages of CGM systems in children and adolescents. Bevacizumab in Aggressive Pituitary Adenomas – Experience with 3 Patients
Conclusion The demonstrated results suggest a considerable effect of bevacizumab in aggressive pituitary adenomas. The advanced stage of disease in all three patients, the overall short period of administration and just one patient showing a clinical benefit do not allow a general statement on the effectiveness. At the current stage of clinical experience, an approach with bevacizumab can be considered as an individual palliative attempt of treatment, when standard treatments are exhausted. Our results underline the need for further studies to evaluate this drug as potential player in therapy resistant aggressive pituitary...
