DNA damage response alterations in clear cell renal cell carcinoma: clinical, molecular, and prognostic implications
ConclusionsOur data suggest that the detection of somatic mutations in DDR genes can predict the efficacy of immunotherapy in patients with ccRCC. Furthermore, we revealed the unique molecular and immune mechanisms underlying ccRCC with DDR gene mutations. (Source: European Journal of Medical Research)

Koetjapic acid: unveiling its potential as a saviour in the realm of biological and medicinal properties, with a focus on anticancer mechanism of action
AbstractScientists have been compelled to search for alternative treatments due to the increasing prevalence of chemoresistance as well as the agonising and distressing side effects of both chemotherapy and radiation. Plant extracts have been exploited to treat various medical conditions for ages. Considering this fact, the main focus of various recent studies that are being conducted to find new and potent anticancer drugs involves the identification and utilisation of potential therapeutic chemicals present in plant extracts. Koetjapic acid (KJA), which belongs to the family of triterpenes, is primarily isolated fromSand...

Effect of huankuile on colon injury in rats with ulcerative colitis by reducing TNF- α and MMP9
ConclusionHKL effectively improved the general symptoms and tissue injury in UC rats, and the therapeutic effect was better than that of 5-ASA group. Ulcerative colitis in rats increased the expression of TNF- α, MMP9 and IL-13. HKL repaired UC-induced colonic injury in rats by decreasing the expression of TNF-α, MMP9 and IL-13. TFR1 knockdown alleviates iron overload and mitochondrial dysfunction during neural differentiation of Alzheimer ’s disease-derived induced pluripotent stem cells by interacting with GSK3B
In conclusion, TFR1 knockdown alleviated iron overload and mitochondrial dysfunction in neural cells differentiated from AD-iPS by promoting GSK3B expression. Our findings provide a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of AD.Graphical Abstract (Source: European Journal of Medical Research)

Effects of training flights of combat jet pilots on parameters of airway function, diffusing capacity and systemic oxidative stress, and their association with flight parameters
ConclusionsThe pattern of reductions in diffusing capacities suggests effects arising from atelectasis and increased diffusion barrier, without changes in capillary blood volume. The decrease in exhaled endogenous NO suggests bronchial mucosal irritation and/or local oxidative stress, and the increase in urinary oxidized guanosine species suggests systemic oxidative stress. Although changes were small and not clinically relevant, their presence demonstrated physiological effects of real training flights in a modern 4th generation fighter jet. The value of bronchodilator response in FEV1 and FeNO for differentiating between chronic respiratory diseases: an observational study
ConclusionThe simplified standard II can replace standard I. ΔFEV1 and FeNO are helpful in differentiating between asthma, COPD, and ACO in patients with a positive BDT result. (Source: European Journal of Medical Research)

Role of primary tumor volume and metastatic lymph node volume in response to curative effect of definitive radiotherapy for locally advanced head and neck cancer
ConclusionPrimary tumor volume is not a prognostic factor for the response to curative effect radiotherapy in LAHNSCC patients. Nevertheless, metastatic lymph nodes are a prognostic factor for the response to curative effect radiotherapy in LAHNSCC patients. Patients with smaller lymph nodes have better local control. Possible uses of Hunter –Schreger bands of dental enamel for automated personal identification
ConclusionsFrom the data in the literature, we can assert that HSB could be used in personal identification, as they are characteristics that are difficult to change and easily detectable. (Source: European Journal of Medical Research)

Serum Elabela expression is decreased in hypertensive patients and could be associated with the progression of hypertensive renal damage
ConclusionsSerum Elabela levels decreased in patients with hypertension, especially malignant hypertension, and has the potential to be a marker of hypertension-related kidney damage. (Source: European Journal of Medical Research)

Lung function and the risk of frailty in the European population: a mendelian randomization study
ConclusionsOur findings indicate that impaired pulmonary function is closely related to the risk of frailty. Enhancing lung function in the elderly population may contribute to the prevention of frailty to a certain extent. (Source: European Journal of Medical Research)

A new technique of intramedullary elastic reduction of the “de-sharpened” Kirschner wire for the treatment of Gartland type III posterolateral displaced supracondylar fracture of the humerus in children
ConclusionsGood functional outcome can be obtained with both intramedullary elastic reduction of the de-sharpened Kirschner wire and traditional three-dimensional manipulation for Gartland type III posterolateral displaced supracondylar fracture of the humerus in children; however, the former does not need repeated manipulation, and the operation time is shorter, the number of intraoperative fluoroscopy is less, and the recovery of the Baumann angle is better.
