Orthodontic camouflage treatment for a patient with bilateral cleft lip and palate, bilateral crossbite, and microdontic maxillary lateral incisors
This article reports the successful treatment of a patient with bilateral cleft lip and palate, Class III malocclusion, bilateral crossbite, crowding and microdontic maxillary lateral incisors. One mandible incisor was extracted, and three miniscrew anchorages were utilized to distalize the maxillary left dental arch and retract the mandibular arch. After treatment, ideal occlusion and a better profile were established, and long-term stability was confirmed by a 4-year follow-up. This article represents a successful attempt of orthodontic camouflage treatment of severe dentofacial discrepancy, as an important part of the s...

Bronchiectasis in renal transplant patients: a cross-sectional study
ConclusionClinical, functional, thoracic CT scan, and microbiological characteristics of bronchiectasis are overall similar in patients with IB and RT-B. These results highlight that in RT patients, chronic respiratory symptoms and/or airway infections should lead to consider the diagnosis of bronchiectasis. Further studies are required to better characterize the pathophysiology of RT-B including airway microbiota, its incidence, and impact on therapeutic management. Assessing the association between triglyceride-glucose index and atrial fibrillation: a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionThe TyG index is an easy-to-measure surrogate marker of IR in patients with AF. Further clinical studies are warranted to demonstrate its ability for routine clinical use and as a screening tool. (Source: European Journal of Medical Research)

Dynamic changes in the gut microbiota during three consecutive trimesters of pregnancy and their correlation with abnormal glucose and lipid metabolism
ConclusionsThere are dynamic changes in the GM during the three trimesters, and the alterations in some bacterium abundance may contribute to the development of high FBG and dyslipidemia during pregnancy. Monitoring enterotypes and correcting dysbiosis in the first trimester may become new strategies for predicting and preventing glucolipid metabolism disorders during pregnancy. Decreased TLR7 expression was associated with airway eosinophilic inflammation and lung function in asthma: evidence from machine learning approaches and experimental validation
ConclusionsDecreased TLR7 in the induced sputum of eosinophilic asthmatic patients was involved in immune cell infiltration and airway inflammation, which may serve as a new biomarker for the diagnosis of eosinophilic asthma. (Source: European Journal of Medical Research)

TFRC, associated with hypoxia and immune, is a prognostic factor and potential therapeutic target for bladder cancer
ConclusionA combined hypoxia and immune-related gene could be a novel predictive model for OS and immunotherapy estimation of BLCA patients and TFRC could be used as a potential therapeutic target in the future. (Source: European Journal of Medical Research)

Downregulation of salusins alleviates hypertrophic cardiomyopathy via attenuating oxidative stress and autophagy
ConclusionsAll these findings suggest that the levels of salusins were elevated in the HCM, and targeting of salusins contributes to alleviation of cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis probably via attenuating oxidative stress and autophagy. Accordingly, targeting of salusins may be a strategy for HCM therapy. (Source: European Journal of Medical Research)

A comparative study on anterior teeth retraction-related hard and soft tissue changes with physiologic anchorage control technique
AbstractAim of this comparative cross-sectional study was to evaluate the effect of anterior teeth retraction and related hard and soft tissue change under physiologic anchorage control in patients with chief complain of protrusive teeth. 68 Class I or II orthodontic patients undergoing four-premolar extraction and requiring maximum or medium anchorage were included. Patients were treated with physiologic anchorage control technique (PASS group,n = 34, 18.6 ± 7.7 years, 10 male and 24 female) and self-ligation technique (Damon group,n = 34, 17.5 ± 5.4 years, 13 male and 21 female), respectively. TADs we...

Causal relationships between delirium and Parkinson ’s disease: a bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization study
ConclusionAccording to the MR findings, a bidirectional causal relationship between delirium and PD is not observed. It is crucial to conduct further research in clinical practice to investigate the association between delirium and the risk of PD. (Source: European Journal of Medical Research)

Detection of skin α-synuclein using RT-QuIC as a diagnostic biomarker for Parkinson’s disease in the Chinese population
ConclusionThis study applied RT-QuIC technology to identify misfolded α-Syn seeding activity in skin samples from Chinese PD patients, demonstrating high specificity and sensitivity. Skin α-Syn RT-QuIC is expected to be a reliable approach for the diagnosis of PD. (Source: European Journal of Medical Research)

Autologous blood patch intraparenchymal injection reduces the incidence of pneumothorax and the need for chest tube placement following CT-guided lung biopsy: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusion deduced showed a noteworthy reduction in the overall incidence of pneumothorax (RR  = 0.65; 95% CI 0.53–0.80;P = 0.00) and a significantly decline in the occasion for chest tube placement due to pneumothorax (RR = 0.45; 95% CI 0.32–0.64;P = 0.00).ConclusionsUtilizing autologous blood patch intraparenchymal injection during the coaxial needle retraction process post-lung biopsy is highly effective in diminishing both the incidence of pneumothorax and consequent chest tube placement requirement. LncRNA LBX2-AS1 promotes proliferation and migratory capacity of clear cell renal cell carcinoma through mitophagy
AbstractBackgroundLong non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been extensively investigated in the field of cancer, among which, lncRNA ladybird homeobox 2-antisense RNA 1 (LBX2-AS1) has been demonstrated to exert carcinogenic effects on a variety of malignancies. However, the biological functions of LBX2-AS1 in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) have not been explicitly elucidated.MethodsArraystar lncRNA chip and qRT-PCR verify the expression of LncRNA LBX2-AS1 in ccRCC. CCK-8 assay and cell cloning assay were used to assess the proliferative capacity of ccRCC cells. Migration abilities were quantified by scratch assay and t...

Time variation of high-risk groups for liver function deteriorations within fluctuating long-term liver function after hepatic radiotherapy in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma
ConclusionsHigh-risk groups for adverse LF deteriorations after hepatic radiotherapy may change over time. Patients with poor baseline LF are vulnerable from the beginning. Women require prevention strategies and careful monitoring for deteriorations at a later stage. (Source: European Journal of Medical Research)
