Unmatched MDs and DOs
Hello! I’m a pre-med undergrad working on a semester capstone project for a course in my university’s journalism program. My story is, broadly, on unmatched MDs and DOs. I am interested in how unmatched MDs and DOs have been affected or are being affected by the Match both economically and personally. Example questions… What has been your experience? How have you been coping? Are you (or do you know anyone) resorting to picking up supplemental non-health jobs while they wait for next... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Will medical schools look down on community college coursework?
I haven't been in high school since 2007 but I've been I other schools for my CNA license and have been working in medical-related jobs. I applied to a 4-year university and they said since I haven't been in high-school for so long or a traditional college, they want to see recent college work first and then they want me to apply as a transfer student. This was not a very competitive college I applied to and was planning on transferring from THAT college to a more competitive college. So if... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Non-Long Term Jobs?
Long story short, I need a job for less than a year. Kind of hard to build up a practice during that time and not sure who would even hire me. I know locum jobs wouldn't pay well but would be better than nothing. I would ideally want to do more surgery than clinic if that scenario even exists. Also, I'm in the US. If anyone has any experience or advice, would appreciate it! Thank you! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

va telepsych
Does anyone have any experience with remote va tele psychiatry jobs? I still have student loans hanging around. My interest rates have been extremely low but are now going up. I'm considering doing VA for two years go get rid of loans. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What is important to look for in General IM jobs?
Hello, I've decided to pursue outpatient IM. There is a lot of questions on hospitalist jobs here, but I haven't seen many for general IM. I've spoken with a lot of recruiters, and definitely decided on things I DON'T want to do. For instance one system I spoke with mentioned they wanted me to see minimum of 20 patients per day for $220k/year with only a "quality" bonus that was already predetermined. I'm also not interested in any value based jobs either and there aren't any true private... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I need MONEY!
Hi all, I’ve been out of residency for ten years now, doing various psychiatric jobs since then. I’ve been working the same job now for seven years. I enjoy helping patients but it’s getting kind of boring and I’m underwhelmed by the pay for what I do. Seems like NPs are making well over 50% of my pay, and PAs maybe 75%. Moreover, I haven’t gotten a raise (despite asking for one) in the past two years during a period of significant inflation, like over 15%. So basically I’ve gotten a 15% pay... Jobs and Graduation... feeling dejected
Sorry for being a bit negative here, but I need to vent, want any advice, and want to make any juniors and pre-pods aware. I am having absolutely terrible luck finding a decent job. By decent I mean pays about $200K and allows for full scope. I'm just about done a PMSR/RRA-36 at a trauma center - I've done everything from hammertoes and wound care to TARS, trimalls, and calc fxs. I've worked with vascular, hand, plastics, trauma, etc. I've made friends in all these specialties, with... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Unmatched MDs and Non-Health Jobs
Hello! I’m an undergrad working on a semester capstone project for a course in my university’s journalism program. My story is, broadly, on unmatched MDs and DOs. I’m especially interested in those who resort or plan to resort to non-health jobs while they wait for the next cycle—jobs like fast food, Instacart, Uber, or something else entirely—as a way to earn enough income and/or manage debts. If this applies to you or has applied in the past, would you be willing to participate in a brief... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

RVU goals and expectations
Hi all, I'm on the trail for PCCM jobs and was offered an academic position in a large coastal metroplex. They quoted a wRVU goal of 6200 with a bonus of $30 per wRVU over that. I'm new to billing side of things. How attainable or "busy" is the RVU goal and is this typically attached on all academic or PP jobs? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Multiple experiences of the same "type"
So I have a good dilemma: I have like 20 meaningful things with meaningful amounts of hours to put into my Activities section. Some of these things are similar or at least have some connecting thread, i.e. summer camp for kids with epilepsy / summer camp for LGBT+ kids, volunteering at several hospitals but in different roles/depts, several somewhat related jobs within separate industries or sub-disciplines, multiple disparate hobbies, etc. Should I: - pick the "best" one of the like... How stable are 700k/year locums jobs?
There is one place in my area that pays 700k for locums at 40 hours per week. How stable are these jobs long-term? Could someone work these jobs for say 2-3 years straight? Or would you be replaced within months forcing you to find a new job? Would a physician working this job be able to purchase a $3 million house without losing sleep at night?
