Gap year: full-time ophthalmic technician position or part-time allergist scribing position?
Hi all, I’m currently wondering which of these two choices might be best for me. I decided to take a gap year after graduation because I wanted more clinical experience, and thought to apply to full-time jobs to get it. But I also need to increase my volunteering hours (currently have around 80), and the part-time position will allow me to keep my current volunteering commitments, plus give me MCAT studying time. I’m planning to apply next May, by the way, so it’ll be a quick turnaround for... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Medical Jobs for Gap Year
Hello everyone, I decide to take a gap year to increase my clinical hours (I currently have 140 clinical volunteering hours in the ICU and 40 clinical volunteering hours doing hospice care as an upcoming senior). I would prefer to get a clinical job instead of doing more clinical volunteering to make a little bit of money. What kind of job do you suggest doing? Additionally, how many hours should I apply with, not including prospective hours post-application? I know that I’ll be doing hours... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Wa rph to nevada
Hi everyone, I am thinking to relocate from WA TO NV and really need your inputs before coming to the final decision. 1. As retail rph jobs, I seem to see mostly only Walgreens and CVS, any other chains are worth to work for in Vegas? 2. What is payrate there? As WA is between 65-70/hrs 3. Which MPJE books or resources should I use to pass NV MPJE? Appreciate you so much! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

New grad vet jobs in Minneapolis
I am a current 3rd year vet student, about to start 4th year. I don't go to UMN, however my partner's family is from there and we are highly considering moving to Minneapolis after we graduate (he is in my class as well). We want to live very close or in the main city so I can try and live without a car, and practice SA/exotics GP. However, when researching veterinary hospitals, there aren't that many in the downtown-ish area and the rest are very spread out in the suburbs. Since I want to... At what point are you overqualified to receive a fellowship?
I graduated in 2022 and upon graduation I completed about 1 year of internships. After that I completed a 1 year work contract in Regulatory affairs. My question is would this make me overqualified for a fellowship, should I just go for jobs at this point? Thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Finished undergrad - next steps?
I have a 3.5 gpa. I really want to pursue medicine. I'm looking at options for a clinical job to get some clinical hours, and I plan on doing more nonclinical volunteering (currently sitting on 200 hrs.) I'm going to study for MCAT in the meantime. And I hope to get in by 2026. Does this sound reasonable? (btw pls recommend some clinical jobs I can do with no experience, currently looking at scribing and its really low pay and seems very cookie-cutter.) Appreciate all responses. Hours for clinical and non clinical for non read full time workers in non-clinical fields
For those who had/have full time corporate jobs: how many clinical hours did you have? And how did you manage non clinical? I can’t give up my consulting gig but would love insight into how to balance it all? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Locums AI agency
Has anyone used ProLocums to find locums jobs? From reading their website, they were founded by a cardiologist in Phoenix in 2022. The ProLocums website says that physicians can register their CVs on their website and can see the rates posted by the hospitals/clients so they can cut out the traditional locums agencies. ProLocums says they take 20% cut which may not be that bad if other locums agencies are taking 50-60% cut. ProLocums claims that they use AI technology to match you to the... Help me choose between two jobs?
Leaving my current 4 man ortho group as the financial setup was not great. Looking at two jobs in a major metro area. 1) Big box ortho group with multiple locations in the state, there are about 50 to 60 employed docs including orthos, rheum, pain, and ED for the urgent care they have. There are three pain guys, I'd be replacing a fourth guy who is leaving because he lived 2 hours away. They are doing mostly bread and butter spine procedures with minimal opioids. Everything is collections... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Lets say you received a biology degree with a very low GPA, what next?
Very low meaning in the 2.0 to 2.5 range. I graduated with a 2.4 GPA and about 160 credit hours due to retakes. It is going to take forever to pull that GPA up and quite frankly, I am just not going to do it. Some of my friends were smart, after their first year of college they switched over to business where they were able to get above a 3.0 and now work as consultants in big cities. So many of them have jobs in media, business, consulting, and are living a life they love. All the while, I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
