OMFS - Anyone worked for ClearChoice?
Hi all, Anyone have any experience or feedback on ClearChoice? I signed a contract with a private practice group with track to partnership in 2 years, very flexible in terms of scope, whatever you want to do. Recently heard about ClearChoice from a friend, they advertise working 4 mornings a week with twice as much pay compared to private practice (4.5 days). Please shed some lights on this if you can. If it's such an amazing deal, why aren't people taking on such jobs? Thank you. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Transitioning to the next career
Does anyone have a good resources or possibly personal experiences on how they transitioned out of clinical medicine to jobs related to their medical degree? As in pharma, research, litigation, physician for a corporation (I know this one is still clinical) or something of the sort? I am about 5 years ago, get paid well, have good hours, however its just not cutting it anymore with the recurrent night shifts, patients that have become increasingly impatient, consultants clamoring for more... Resident Continuity Clinic vs "Real World" Outpatient
A vast majority of my colleagues go into hospital medicine upon graduating. Even those thinking of doing outpatient end up taking hospitalist jobs. My program is very inpatient heavy and the only exposure we get to primary care is our continuity clinic where we commonly see low-functioning, uninsured, uneducated, chronically co-morbid, often drug addicted patients. We get a taste of insurance company denials, mountainous levels of paperwork, and an outdated EMR (eCW). Could this lack of... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What states have easiest/cheapest to obtain licenses?
I am a locums physician who is licensed and live in NY (so I don't qualify for IMLC). Unfortunately NY jobs in my field (hospitalist) have become fewer and far between. Most jobs in other states require an active license, or at the very least, an IMLC. Thus I'd like to invest in some licenses in other states, but not sure which ones to aim for strategically. Was wondering if anyone may have recommendations. I'd want a license that is relatively cheap, fast to get, can qualify for IMLC, and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Negotiating salary for Jobs
Hello, I was wondering in regards to negotiating salary, when taking into consideration the work, how does one calculate or determine what’s a fair salary? For example, if I can find out how many surgicals/cytology I will be signing out a year, the number of other labs or hospitals I have to cover (medical directorships), how can I determine what is an appropriate salary considering the work involved? How can I determine how much higher of a salary can I negotiate without “asking for too... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

SDG job consideration-Predatory or the norm?
I’m looking into EM attending jobs in a new city and wanted to get feedback regarding an SDG job that I’ve come across. Medium cost of living city with a stable private democratic group that has had the hospital system contract for 30+ years. They have a stable contract with a specific health system staffing 3 of their hospitals in the metroplex. Partnership track: sweat equity buy-in for 2 years with a base salary of $220k for 1620 hours/year. W2 with subsidized health insurance, fully... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How to find and apply for community jobs
Hi All, I’m a second year fellow at a heavily academic program and have decided that a life in academics is not a good fit. There’s not a lot of resources in my program for identifying and applying for community onc jobs (it’s been awhile since any of the graduating fellows chose the community path and the faculty are focused on mentoring physician scientists/clinical investigators), so I was wondering how/where y’all would recommend starting? Are most opportunities publicly posted or is it... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I recently finished five good books . . .
If you're looking for a good read (not related to medicine), I just finished five books that I would recommend: --Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin --Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus --When Women Were Dragons by Kelly Barnhill --Dictionary of Lost Words by Pip Williams --Jobs for Girls with Artistic Flair by June Gervais What are you all reading for fun and what would you recommend? Jobs before OT school/ becoming an OT aide
I'm planning to apply to OT school next year and in the meantime I'm looking to get a job that would look good on my applications. I think OT aide may be the best but can't find anywhere online that is hiring. Does anyone have any advice? If I can't get an OT aide job, do you think PT aide job looks just as good? there are many of those available. I'm also considering becoming an IA so I can be a part of the school district. Any tips would be appreciated! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

[Career Advice Request] MD PhD attendings- Where are you doing what now and why?
Currently applying for post-postdoc jobs (faculty) but exploring private sector as well. Interested in hearing from attendings who are MSTP (or MDPhD combined degree programs) graduates- where you are now (academics vs. industry vs. other) and why? I am now about to graduate from an IM subspecialty fellowship with significant bench research experience- but I am no longer interested in owning/running a lab (which seems is condemned where I am, if I am MSTP then I'm expected to continue on...
