Technology/AI implementation in Psychiatry
I know there are some posts that speculate about psychiatrists/therapists losing their jobs to AI and such...but I foud them to be kinda unrealistic considering things like nuance, context, legal and ethical problems. However, I do think there is a bigger space for the implementation of AI and new techonologies as complementary tools for the modern psychiatrist. Which tecnhologies/uses for AI do you see in the next few years being implemented in the field of Psychiatry? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Pushing meds for induction
I was just perusing Gaswork to look at the CRNA jobs in my area and there was header for the percent that Anesthesiologists push induction meds vs. CRNAs. Is this a thing? I’m not gonna lie, I don’t let the CRNAs I work with push induction meds all the time. I pick my spots, but if they’re sick then I want to be in control. I’ve been burned before, and I have kids to feed. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Does anyone know if it costs money to become uncredentialed by insurance companies?
I am changing jobs from a practice where I am credentialed with insurance companies to a fee for service practice. To drop insurance companies, is there a fee associated with that? I just want to make sure before finishing contract negotiations. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

10 Guidelines for Happiness as a DPM Associate
Job search season is upon us... and for most DPMs, it continues 24/7/365. Most DPMs are working as associates. Most grads, no matter what they target or want, will take those DPM associate positions. There's a ton of negativity (most of it founded!) in podiatry with higher tuitions and few good jobs. The saturation for the surgery and high income jobs for DPMs is quite real. The competition in private practice pts is quite high already, and the newest schools are just gettin started... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Question about assistant prof application process
Hi all, Apologies if this has been asked and answered before. I was searching the forums and could not find a clear answer so I figured I would reach out. Long story short, I am starting my two-year fellowship in clinical neuropsychology in September. My partner and I both love where we have moved to for fellowship (family nearby, great CoL, etc.). I was looking at the psych jobs wiki and debating applying for a couple of assistant professor jobs that are near-ish to where we live now... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Full-time job and full-time post-bacc or quit and find part-time work?
In June, I quit my full-time job with the intention of getting part-time jobs in clinical research and scribing. However, shortly after I quit I was offered a full-time job in my original field (software engineering) and accepted it because the company is pretty chill and I should be able to balance the full-time work schedule with full-time school schedule. Also I live in NYC and having a decent paycheck and health insurance is very helpful. However, I'm quickly realizing that apart from... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Don ’t do podiatry
All the jobs out there for new grads start at about $100,000 or less for slave hours. It’s nearly impossible to get hospital employed as a new grad, VA’s are impossible as well. More and more places only want people abfas certified/years of experience/fellowship trained. It’s hopeless. I’m starting to look at new career options Students are now getting accepted with less than 490 MCAT scores. Pretty sure you get that just by choosing the letter C on every question. This profession is... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Patient volumes for junior attending
Hi, just wondering if anyone here could comment on what patient volumes they have been seeing as a junior attending a year or two into practice. Looking into applying for jobs right now - Would you say that around ~15-16 pts a year into practice is a reasonable ask? I don’t want to be seeing too many patients also as a general oncologist as they’re complicated and not having a disease specific community position makes it hard to catch up on everything. Also how many new patients (including... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Externship/Mentorship Questions
Hello! I will be starting my second year in the fall. Until now my veterinary experience has come through jobs and not so much shadowing or mentorships. I was wondering what questions or things I should ask to do during my summer externship to get the most out of it. One is a mixed animal and the other is equine focused. Should I do some research beforehand on what is common in the area for that practice? What other things should I do to prepare for my externship? Thanks!!! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Wife probably going to make a C in post bacc. Don't know what to do.
I've posted several times over the last few years seeking advice for my wife. We've followed it closely, and she has been crushing it...until today. It feels like it's all crashing down, and I don't know what to do now. She finished her undergrad with 2.5 sGPA. She was in a tough living environment, had long commutes from her rural home, 3 jobs, 1st gen of a Mexican immigrant, etc. She made Ds in 4 classes: both Ochems, physiology, and Calc. Last summer she started her post bacc by... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
