Low-dose-rate brachytherapy and long-term treatment outcomes in patients younger than 60 years of age
CONCLUSIONS: With excellent long-term treatment outcomes and minimal associated toxicities, our results showed that LDR brachytherapy can be an effective treatment of choice in younger men.PMID:38584883 | PMC:PMC10993894 | DOI:10.5114/jcb.2024.135630 (Source: Journal of Contemporary Brachytherapy)

Influence of Lattice Defects on trans-Oligoene Substructure Formation in Graphene
Chemistry. 2024 Apr 8:e202401031. doi: 10.1002/chem.202401031. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe photochemical reaction of iodine and graphene induces strong new Raman modes due to the formation of trans-oligoene substructures in graphene domains. This unique reactivity was demonstrated before on defect-free graphene, however leaving the influence of e.g. carbon vacancies, unexplored. Here, we investigate the photochemical reaction applied on graphene with varying average distances of lattice defects and statistically analyze the characteristic Raman modes which develop with the iodination reaction. We show that the iodina...

Iodine-mediated oxidative triple functionalization of indolines with azoles and diazonium salts
We report an innovative synthetic strategy for the generation of polysubstituted indoles from indolines, aryldiazonium salts, and azoles. The methodology encompasses an electrophilic substitution reaction affording C5-indoline intermediates which undergo an iodine-mediated oxidative transformation coupled with C-H functionalization to yield the indole derivatives.PMID:38587256 | DOI:10.1039/d4cc00856a (Source: Chemical Communications)

Iodosulfonylation of [1.1.1]Propellane
Synthesis DOI: 10.1055/a-2290-6540 An efficient disubstituted functionalization of [1.1.1]propellane has been developed. The protocol utilizes sulfonyl hydrazides and N-iodosuccinimide, enabling the introduction of iodine and sulfonyl groups into bicyclo[1.1.1]pentane (BCP) in moderate to excellent yields. It has the advantages of simple operation, mild conditions, and broad substrate scope.
