Non-retail pharmacy manager pros/cons?
Hi SDN members,
I have a couple opportunities to apply for manager position in oncology infusion center and rehabilitation hospital. I couldn't find the thread but sometime ago there were a few experienced SDN members discussed the pros and cons of being a manager. I've worked in inpatient and outpatient settings so I fully understand politics play an important role being in management positions. Besides playing politics, I would love to hear from veterans what do you think about being in...

PP hiring in NH
PP hiring employee or partner track physicians.
Provide coverage for level 2 trauma center hospital with OB (no high risk) and smaller hospital in lakes region of NH (very low callback) as well as orthopedic surgery center.

Happy to provide more...

Virginia Central State Hospital death
Video shows Virginia deputies and medical staff piling on Black man before his death
Surveillance video from the March 6 incident at Virginia's Central State Hospital captures some of the final moments of the life of Otieno, a 28-year-old Black man.
www.nbcnews.com
Just saw this myself, wanted to know what others thought of this. Reminded me of why I hated having police in the hospital rather than techs/hospital security who were actually trained in safe restraint protocols rather than dogpiling on top of a handcuffed guy until they asphyxiate...

Multiple experiences of the same "type"
So I have a good dilemma: I have like 20 meaningful things with meaningful amounts of hours to put into my Activities section.
Some of these things are similar or at least have some connecting thread, i.e. summer camp for kids with epilepsy / summer camp for LGBT+ kids, volunteering at several hospitals but in different roles/depts, several somewhat related jobs within separate industries or sub-disciplines, multiple disparate hobbies, etc.
Should I:
- pick the "best" one of the like...

Contract change
Maybe someone can help me out here. So I’ve been at my job for 4.5 years. I work at a small hospital in a small rural town in Iowa. This is my first job out of residency, so still wet behind the ears when it comes to contracts and compensation.
So during CoVid our competitor bought the hospital where I work and combined the two campuses to form a “Sole Hospital“ in doing so they switched to a completely different compensation model than when I started. We are going from a base salary plus...

NYC position
I am in a small-med size community hospital in Brooklyn just 15 minutes from Lower Manhattan.
Most days, we get out somewhere between 1-4pm. The late attending comes in at around 10am to noon. so our hours are on average, between 40-50 hours a week.
We cover CRNAs and residents, so hardy ever have to sit “on the stool”, except for breaks.
We have 3 or less in-house call requirements (weeknights), 8 weeks vacations, and very competitive compensation package.
DM me if interested in finding...

Is this offer too good to be true?
I have recently sealed the deal with my own first attending contract. As we are finalizing for my wife`s attending contract negotiations as well, she received an offer from another hospital which puzzled us and wanted to share here. This hospital is an hour away from the one I signed with so it won`t be convenient but I felt it was too good to refuse so here we go;
State Hospital with academic affiliation
Inpatient Adolescent Residential
Census : 12 follow ups. 1-2 new...

DRG disbursement info
I posted this earlier but I’ll try it here:
Hi there, I’m a plastic and reconstructive surgeon and given the complexity and volume of surgery I have been bringing to a hospital - I find myself wanting to bring a business plan to the hospital about my compensation. How can I discover the DRG disbursements for the patients I am caring for? I know the hospital tried to avoid using these value’s to negotiate contracts and often reverts to MGMA data but I think it’s very clear that would make me...

Loyola (Stritch) vs Creighton (Phoenix)
Blessed to be accepted into multiple medical schools. Barring any other acceptances or waitlist movement, I have narrowed my choices down to these two schools.
Both are similar COA, grading (Loyola P/F vs Creighton H/P/F and clinical), strong hospital rotation sites (Level 1 trauma center, Burn center, Children's, VA, etc), mission, rankings, and matches. Having a hard time seeing which one is best for me, I am happy to attend either one but I want to make the best decision for me...
