Big hospital systems take over small docs and raise prices
At least Walmart lowers prices when they come into town and put mom and pops out of business. Not so with hospital systems. CMS Invites Hospitals To Raise Prices And Buy Physician Practices This scheme benefits hospitals, the state, and the Biden Administration, at the expense of workers, employers, independent physicians, and federal taxpayers. www.forbes.com (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Thoughts on SIR should IR leave DR talk
I heard a lot of people speak on this subject not just at this one form. I listened to multiple people. IR’s have no leverage when they are doing rudimentary IR biopsies and drains. IR has a lot of leverage when they are doing high end cases. When IR is doing, high end cases they make a lot of money for the hospital. I heard someone in PP that IR had disputes with DR over money and they said they were going to leave collectively the group. DR immediately caved in to this thought because they... Come back home to Illinois?
I’m out east, and looking for jobs around Chicago. Lotta places got nuked. Anybody know places that are like 40 hours truly every week? Maybe one weekend call every six weeks. I’m not interested anymore at the 55 hour work week. Any part-time work in a hospital that’s not lotta late calls? Heard the Northwestern hospitals do it. Saw advocate stuff but heard the calls were ****ty. Minimal supervision garbage. Don’t want ASC for now. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Best Clinical Hours?
Hi all, I may be getting a part-time weekend Phlebotomist role in a hospital. I see mixed takes online about this, on both SDN and Reddit, about how this paid clinical PCE is viewed. Some say it's ranked lower as far as clinical hours go than something like ED Tech, CNA / PCT, or MA would be. Or say they don't view it favorably for clinical. Technically, given I'd be in a hospital, everyone I'd work with would officially be a patient. Half my time would be specimen collection, blood draws... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Student loans
I would appreciate it if you folks can give some recommendations on how to tackle this. I have 377K, all direct which will qualify for PSLF and I'll be a resident at a state hospital. Wanted to get started on that process if I can to offload 3 out of the 10 years. The calc shows a 6.8% if were to consolidate and my amount will still be 377K. Should I consolidate or no? Locum Cancellation
Hi, I’m relatively new to the locum game. My first big assignment cancelled on me 7 weeks out from the start date. Apparently 20 other docs were similarly informed yesterday. The reasoning given was that the hospital is moving to a direct hire process. It’s not the end of the world, but it is frustrating with the time I have already invested in credentialing process. Thankfully I have other gigs I should be able to fall back on for now. Can any of y’all chime in on how often this situation... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Leaving the hospital for ASC?
Anybody work in a hospital for like 10 years and then thought “F weekends and call” to go to ASCs. You wish that you stayed? Trouble going back since haven’t done certain cases in years like OB? Credentialing problems? Bad stuff about ASCs? I’m thinking I may ditch the hospital but is that short sighted when I have another 20 years to go? I’m also in major metro area.
