Heat
It is unseasonably warm. Our hospital building is old. I don't know what witchery controls the HVAC system, but it does not switch gears easily.... And so for the last two days large parts of the hospital, including many patient units, have been sweltering. It has felt like the hospital is literally and metaphorically boiling over. Patients acting up. Staff with short tempers. To the point it feels like a genuine safety issue. I'm not looking forward to this becoming a repeated pattern... (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Worth getting a medical assistant certification/becoming an MA for 1.5 years before applying?
Hi, I am currently a sophomore pre-medical student curious about whether the MA experience is worth it! I attend a top public university in NY, with a 3.65 GPA, an upward trend from my freshman GPA of 3.25 (personal issues), hopefully, I can get to 3.75-3.85 by the time of application. I have ~1000 hours of research at my university and will also be doing research at a T10 medical school/hospital over the summer w/ addition to shadowing/other extracurriculars. I have ~460 hours as a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Another Intern Hoping to Switch Specialties...=P
Hello everyone! I'm currently a PGY-1 FM intern in an unopposed academic setting FM residency program. I'm also in a track offered by the program to be trained as a FMOB throughout three years. I love my program, my co-residents, the faculty, the hospital, and attendings who are so caring about our education and are excellent teachers. I have to say I'm getting amazing FP training at my current program. However, I entered medicine wanting to be a Surgeon since I was in middle school. Over... Food
Adams applauds NYC hospitals for feeding patients plant-based meals over meat by default in climate push Eric Adams cheered NYC hospitals for serving patients plant-based meals, saying food production/consumption is the city's third-largest source of emissions. www.foxnews.com Hahahahahaha. This is a recipe ... for disaster. When I say disaster, I mean low press ganey scores. An emerging realization for very large hospitals and health systems is that food served, and ability to get at non-routine meal times, greatly impact patient satisfacti...

question about inpatient jobs
Havent done inpatient in a while and my skills are definitely rusty compared to outpatient. Are inpatient jobs more chill compared to outpatient? Are people essentially rounding 3-4 hours then going home, and they get called if someone has a question? I guess it also depends on the unit as well. I remember when I was a resident multiple attendings would do inpatient in morning and leave by like 12 and in the state hospital, rounds were incredibly fast and patients werent even seen every day... REPOST: Burrell vs VCOM-LOUSIANA
Hey y’all! I had a dilemma about choosing a school. Burrell Pros: Last year’s COMLEX pass rate of 94 percent, however the previous years pass rates were 90, 92 , 91 , and 90 Decent rotation sites in military-based hospitals, and a preceptor with many connections to UTEP hospitals Proximity to a big city in El Paso Decent location, las cruces has a little over 100,000 people Relatively cheap place to live Match list is solid for a DO school (4 ANES, ortho... Research Question for Medical Students
Research for med school Sophomore pre med, kind of panicking. I plan to go to med school once I graduate. I do hospital volunteering, worked at an eye clinic for a year, started a pharmacy tech job, do ESL tutoring, tutored math at my college and for elementary- middle school kids. I shadow physicians weekly and will likely be starting a volunteer scribing position soon and also tutor chemistry on campus. I plan to keep a 4.0 GPA . I haven’t started MCAT studying but I’ll be more concerned... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
