Dialysis parameters associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection and prognosis in end-stage kidney disease
CONCLUSION: Acute Covid-19 illness is associated with variations in dialysis parameters of volume status in patients with ESKD. Furthermore, increases in predialysis BP during acute Covid-19 illness are associated with an adverse prognosis in Covid-ESKD patients.PMID:38738416 | DOI:10.1080/07853890.2024.2343890 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

A chronic intermittent haemodialysis pig model for functional evaluation of dialysis membranes
In conclusion, this model mimics the pathophysiology and dialysis condition of patients undergoing haemodialysis. This dialysis treatment model of renal failure will be useful for evaluating the performance and safety of dialysis membranes.PMID:38738648 | DOI:10.1177/03913988241253152 (Source: The International Journal of Artificial Organs)

Impact of persistent malperfusion syndrome following central repair of acute type A aortic dissection on early outcomes
J Med Invest. 2024;71(1.2):158-161. doi: 10.2152/jmi.71.158.ABSTRACTWe investigated impact of persistent malperfusion syndrome (MPS) following central repair of acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) on outcomes. Thirty patients who underwent central repair for ATAAD with MPS were included. Patients were divided into two groups:23 patients without MPS following central repair (No-MPS group) and 7 with MPS (Persistent-MPS group). The mean age was 66.8±9.6 and 59.4±13.4 years in the No-MPS and Persistent-MPS groups, respectively (P=0.176). Preoperative MPS included the left coronary artery (n=3), brain (n=3), abdomen (n=7)...

Five-Year Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Outcomes in Chronic Hemodialysis vs. Non-Hemodialysis Patients Using Balloon-Expandable Devices
CONCLUSIONS: TAVR in HD patients had comparable periprocedural mortality but inferior mid-term survival and TAV durability than in non-HD patients. Indications for TAVR in younger HD patients should be carefully determined, considering the possibility of a TAV-in-TAV procedure when early SVD occurs.PMID:38735703 | DOI:10.1253/circj.CJ-24-0050 (Source: Circulation Journal)
