Results of Autologous Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in Patients with Multiple Myeloma(MM) and Renal Impairment: A Retrospective Single-Center Study
Conclusion: Auto-HSCT is a safe and effective treatment for patients with MM complicated by acute kidney injury. Fourteen of 23 (61%) patients became dialysis-independent.PMID:38680711 | PMC:PMC11055427 | DOI:10.18502/ijhoscr.v18i1.14745 (Source: Herpes)

The association between vascular access satisfaction and all-cause mortality in maintenance hemodialysis patients
J Vasc Access. 2024 Apr 29:11297298241244483. doi: 10.1177/11297298241244483. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBACKGROUND: The mortality is significantly higher in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) than in the general population. It is well-known that vascular access (VA) is critical for MHD patients. But the association between VA satisfaction and all-cause mortality in MHD patients is still not clear. The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between VA satisfaction and all-cause mortality in MHD patients with a 30-month follow-up.METHODS: Two hundred twenty-nine MHD patients in two dialysis cen...

Proposal of a classification of cannulation damage in vascular access grafts based on clinical, ultrasound, and microscopic observations
CONCLUSION: Cannulation damage alone does not solely account for AVG failure. It results from a biological host-mediated process that promotes the growth of intimal hyperplasia at the cannulation sites. This process is not clinically significant within the initial 2 years after AVG creation.PMID:38679815 | DOI:10.1177/11297298241248263 (Source: The Journal of Vascular Access)
