Return to Duty Following Exertional Heat Stroke: A Review
CONCLUSIONS: EHS has a high morbidity and mortality rate if not treated rapidly. Because the extent of end-organ damage is dependent on the amount of time that the individual is hyperthermic, rapid diagnosis via rectal thermometry, and efficient cooling methods are imperative to the wellbeing of EHS patients. Following EHS, gradual RTD recommendations within the limits of operational demand should be implemented to reduce the risk for a subsequent heat injury event. While many versions of HTT, most notably the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) protocol, have been created to guide RTD recommendations, a universal assessment for h...

Therapeutic potential of traditional Chinese medicine on heat stroke
This article primarily reviews TCM herbal therapies and external therapies that have been described in various clinical reports and demonstrated in relevant studies. Herbal therapies, including herbal formulas, Chinese patent medicines (CPMs), single Chinese herbs, and associated extracts or monomers, are summarized based on the shared perspectives of the underlying mechanisms from TCM. In addition, external therapies including acupuncture, bloodletting, cupping, Gua sha and Tui na that have rarely been rarely mentioned and considered in most cases, are introduced and discussed to offer a unique perspective in the search f...

Exertional Heat Stroke Survival at the Falmouth Road Race: 180 New Cases With Expanded Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: This is the second-largest civilian database of EHS cases ever reported; however, when combined with the previous dataset of EHS survivors from this race, it amounts to 454 EHS cases resulting in 100% survival. WBGT remains a strong predictor of EHS and EHI cases. These findings support that a wide range of ages and sexes can be treated with CWI with 100% survival from EHS.PMID:37655801 | DOI:10.4085/1062-6050-0065.23 (Source: J Athl Train)
