Molecules, Vol. 28, Pages 5484: Health Benefits, Antioxidant Activity, and Sensory Attributes of Selected Cold-Pressed Oils
This study focused on the estimation and comparison of the physicochemical properties and sensory quality of six CPOs: linseed oil (CPLO), pumpkin oil (CPPO), milk thistle oil (CPMTO), rapeseed oil (CPRO), camelina oil (CPCO), and sunflower oil (CPSO), which are the most popular in the Polish market. These oils were analysed for their fatty acid composition (FAC), their tocopherol, sterol, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAHs), water, and volatile matter (WVM) contents, as well as their antioxidant activity (AA) and oxidative stability parameters. Moreover, quantitative descriptive analysis (QDA) was performed to obtain d...

Genes, Vol. 14, Pages 1461: Molecular Advances to Combat Different Biotic and Abiotic Stresses in Linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.): A Comprehensive Review
i Shailja Chauhan Flax, or linseed, is considered a “superfood”, which means that it is a food with diverse health benefits and potentially useful bioactive ingredients. It is a multi-purpose crop that is prized for its seed oil, fibre, nutraceutical, and probiotic qualities. It is suited to various habitats and agro-ecological conditions. Numerous abiotic and biotic stressors that can either have a direct or indirect impact on plant health are experienced by flax plants as a result of changing environmental circumstances. Research on the impact of various stresses and their possible ameli...

Cutinase production from Fusarium verticillioides using response surface methodology and its application  as potential insecticide degrader
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Jul 14. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-28635-1. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCutinase, a multifunctional enzyme, has shown great potential in environmental applications such as degradation of plastics and some commonly used insecticides. To overcome these environmental threatening problems, attempts should be made to enhance enzyme production. In the present study, a cutinolytic fungus was isolated from the soil. Based on 18 s rDNA sequencing, it was found that isolate AR08 belongs to the genus Fusarium and clades with Fusarium verticillioides. Optimization of medium composition for enhancement i...

GSE213719 Alternative splicing and DNA methylation interact in linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) response to different drought stresses
Contributors : Lei Wang ; Wei WangSeries Type : Methylation profiling by high throughput sequencingOrganism : Linum usitatissimumTo investigate changes in genome methylation in flax seedlings under drought stress, we selected a drought-tolerant flax variety (Z141) and a drought-sensitive flax variety (NY-17)We then performed genome methylation analysis using data obtained from Z141 and NY-17 leaf tissue BS-seq at four different treatments (DS, RW, RD and CK). Sulphonated poly(ethersulfone)/carbon nano-onions-based nanocomposite membranes with high ion-conducting channels for salt removal via electrodialysis
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Jul 8. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-28570-1. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHerein, we are reporting the carbon nano onions (CNO)-based sulphonated poly(ethersulfone) (SPES) composite membranes by varying CNO content in SPES matrix for water desalination applications. CNOs were cost-effectively synthesized using flaxseed oil as a carbon source in an energy efficient flame pyrolysis process. The physico- and electrochemical properties of nanocomposite membranes were evaluated and compared to pristine SPES. Moreover, the chemical characterisation of composite membranes and CNOs were illustrated usi...

Assessing the promoting effect of compound microbial agents on flax dew retting: Based on the relationship between metabolites and core genera
In this study, 16S rRNA sequencing and GC-MS (gas chromatography-mass spectrometry) techniques were employed to examine the relationship between bacterial succession and metabolite alterations during the dew retting process of flax. The results indicated that the addition of compound microbial agents may affect the production and transformation of metabolites by re-establishing bacterial communities and promoting the degradation of pectic substances and the release of metabolites, and the best retting effect was achieved under the combined addition (BA). In addition, Chryseobacterium, Bacillus, and Pseudoonas were closely ...
