Should I quit my full-time research job?
Hi All, 2020 graduate here currently working full-time as a Research Coordinator (and Research Assistant beforehand) for almost 2.5 years. I'm wondering, should I quit my current job and work as an entry level Medical Assistant? I really like the staff of my current job, and it has provided a lot of research and leadership experience, in which I was able to be a co-author on 5 pubs, present a poster abstract at a national conference, and coordinate an educational program for a geriatrics... Choosing the more expensive school …
Has anyone chosen to attend a more expensive school and been happy with/regretted their decision? *I am 100% not attending my in-state. However, I am left with some moderately priced options and an EXPENSIVE option. The expensive option is my dream school, but the debt (~400k pre-interest + my undergrad debt) scares me. I know education opps are similar everywhere and where we go doesn’t matter in the aspect of our future career. I know many stress going to the cheapest school, but just... Chapman points need serious evaluation
Evidence-based medicine is what we pride ourselves on as clinicians, right? Can anyone show me some real evidence of chapman points? If not, it's 2023 and we can move on. We, as DOs, continue to shoot ourselves in the foot by sticking to these osteopathic principles. If we clean up some of the made up jargon, we could move a lot further in the future of the MD/DO debacle. What will it take to get chapman points out of medical education all together? They can have their place in a OMM... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What's the difference between orthodontics certifications & orthodontics postgraduate MS?
My own orthodontist did not do a traditional 2 yr MS program in orthodontics. Instead, they received certifications from seminars with over 600 hours of continuing education in orthodontics. Other orthodontists in my town did the 2 yr MS. My own orthodontist is highly talented and gets more people and rave reviews in comparison to the other orthodontists. So I was just curious what were the differences between orthodontics certifications & orthodontics traditional postgraduate MS? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Popular user aka Michael Mehlman alludes to sexual harassment & assault in his dating blog.
Disclaimer: I felt it necessary to share this to a larger audience, warn other students, women, and professionals, and bring awareness to the absolutely abhorrent behavior of a man who is actively involved in the education of medical students. I posted this in reddit as well. Quick run down: Michael Mehlman is originally from the U.S. where he graduated undergrad from Boston University. He left to Australia to obtain his medical degree, and graduated, only to decide medicine was not... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

WAMC school list for high-stat, low research applicant (3.95/525)
Hi everyone. Thank you in advance for any advice. I am in a gap year and planning on applying this upcoming cycle. I’m posting this as I’ve had a hard time deciding which schools to apply to, given I’m a high-stat applicant with sparse research experience. I’m not after an esteemed program (however you measure that). I just want to get into a school and make the most of that education, though I fear being yield protected from lower-stat schools and being underqualified for high-stat... ChatGPT
What do you all think? Apparently as my college everyone from the President on down is trying to figure out how this impacts education. Informal student polling is showing a majority of students have used it at this point. In addition to writing papers, it can even correctly answer multiuple choice questions. In a recent meeting a STEM colleague also made a comment about AI taking away therapists jobs in the coming years. I chuckled. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Medical School is such a scam
Friend just offered 200k a year to work as a nurse in San Francisco. No nights or weekends, 5 weeks paid vacation a year, pension, 401k with match, great benefits. Easy job, low patient numbers. Education is such a scam. I can't this good a gig, anywhere. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
