PP CRNA salary more than Academic Anesthesiologists
I've been interviewing at some academic institutions. The salary is so shamefully low its embarrassing. I know private practice CRNA's that make more than the salary that is offered at these places. In my opinion, no amount of Ivy Leage prestige can suffice for a lesser educated, less trained mid-level provider earning more than us. Why do we need all these years of education then? Is the crisis that is hitting Emergency Medicine bound for Anesthesia next? Over 500 unfilled spots in... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Disabled nontrad premed seeking advice
I graduated in 2016 with a degree in neuroscience and journalism from a SUNY school with a 4.0 GPA. I have since worked in clinical research while enduring many surgeries (due to a genetic condition), including an ankle reconstruction that left me unable to walk well and I can’t drive a car. It is simply unsafe for me to commute right now, but I don’t want this to hold up my education any longer. I wanted to go to the Columbia program, but it’s just not realistic. I plan on getting my ankle... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

University of Western Australia DPM Program
Posting this in the pre-pod forum just because it pertains to podiatric education and undergraduate preparation. In today's PM News, there's a mini-feature about an Australian podiatrist starting a rural podiatry clinic. Mildly impressive, plus she looks young so it's a fairly big deal at this stage in her career to be heading up her own clinic. So I went down the rabbit hole, checked her linkedin which appears to be outdated. She got her degree from University of Western... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

which offer to accept? 1st gen, any advice appreciated!
I've been really fortunate to be accepted to 3 PsyD programs. I am the only one in my family to attend college, so I don't have much guidance/people to talk to about higher education advice. I'd really appreciate any input/advice given! I want to make sure I am weighing different aspects of each program correctly. I want to work in clinical therapy and eventually do something with forensic psych. 3 Acceptances: Indiana State University of Pennsylvania (IUP), Immaculata University... Stupid Mistake
I’m probably going to have to remediate an interprofessional education pass/fail course worth 0.5 credits because I supposedly did not turn in an assignment on time. It’s so stupid I’m having difficulty processing it. Anyways, how will this affect my residency application in the future? I’m a first year, my grades are great, I have good extracurriculars so far and am beginning research soon. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How do I overcome being a reapplicant from another specialty?
I recently did not match radiology but will be entering PGY1 in a transitional year during which time I will apply Pathology. I initially wanted to Pathology in my first 2 years of med school but changed my mind to radiology because of life experience and exposure my 3rd year. Being a reapplicant and changing my mind back and forth are red flags. I also have a gap in education (medical leave of absence) that is another red flag. I'm kind of feeling overwhelmed because Pathology was always... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ABIM verse AOBIM
Hey Everyone! I would like to request your insight regarding the choice between the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM). I am curious to know if there are any notable disparities between these two certification programs in terms of the Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements, the nature of CMEs, or the frequency of board examinations. Additionally, I would appreciate any clarifications on whether osteopathic... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Loan Concern
Hi all, I know we are supposed to receive full COA in loans. Unsubsidized first, then grad plus for any extra (and HP loans, but I don’t qualify for those since I can’t get my parents info). Any way, I got my first financial aid package from one of the institutions today and this message is in my to-do list: “The Department of Education has indicated that, based upon your dependency status and/or your grade level, you may have exceeded the loan limits established for the federal loan... The Future of Pharmacy - R.Phs function as Glorified Pharmacy Techs!
There are many intelligent, knowledgeable Pharmacists on this forum. Question for y'all? I have been pondering the many threads on the job market, job security, pay scale, and the future of pharmacy practice. There is a disconnect with our education and financial outlay, and the type, and scope of employment that await the majority of our grads. In most every other country, pharmacy is a 3-4 year BS level or Technical level degree, with pay commensurate with the time and effort (and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
