Academic inconsistencies essay
Essay: Please explain in more detail (in less than 1500 characters) anything that would help us understand any gaps or delays in your education, academic missteps, or personal challenges not listed elsewhere. Should I discuss the fact that I am a career changer here and that my early (10+ years ago) academic credentials no longer apply? I don't want to appear that I'm making an excuse about my previous mediocre grades, but I would like to try and explain the extent of relevant work... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Support the AMA - a group actually trying
Medicare physician pay fell 26% since 2001. How did we get here? Medicare’s unsustainable pay system threatens access to care. The failure to update physician pay for inflation is a huge part of the problem. www.ama-assn.org For all of you who have had an on and off AMA relationship, I ask you to reconsider. They are pushing to tie Medicare payments with inflation and blasting out how reimbursement has decreased significantly while education costs, practice costs, complexity, have all increased. Doximity similarly had a good article based on the...

Biden's New Loan Plan: Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) will essentially eliminate interest accumulation during Residency
Am I understanding this right? Here is how the math works out: You pay only if you make more than 2.25 times the Federal Poverty line, which is around $55K. This alone means that half of US residents won't pay. Anything above that, and you only pay 10% of the gap Any additional interest accumulation is forgiven So those making under 55K in residency will have zero interest accumulation. But even if you make, say 75k, you would only pay $2,000 per year in residency. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Acsom
Looks like the new American Canadian School of Medicine is starting up in September 2023 on Dominica in the old Ross campus. Not seen anything on this so far on SDN, so thought I'd post this as a FYI. To be clear, with no track record, its high risk, and I'm not suggesting it, just noting its launch.
