Making a New School List
This past application cycle, I applied to a lot more research-heavy schools than I had thought. My background is not too research-heavy, but more education, service, and advocacy-heavy. Background: I worked in one lab (6mo), did an independent honors thesis (1yr) and presented both projects at a conference. I also volunteered with a student-run clinic (2.5yr), taught special education math in low-income area (2yr going on 3). I am a Hawai'i resident. Do you guys know any schools that are... Does it seem out of touch?
Does anyone feel selfish, out of touch, or guilty speaking to med schools about your application, when they are probably dealing with crisis situations in their network of hospitals, not to mention how they will deliver education to their existing students? I know that's a loaded question, but in light of everything going on, it feels odd to ask about financial aid, or other normal questions you'd ask at this time. Would a letter of intent be viewed as callous and out of touch? Thoughts... Does it seem out of touch? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Hopkins (150k) vs. WashU (Full ride)
Got into Hopkins in December and was all set on going until I got a full tuition merit scholarship from WashU this past week. Considering my EFC is close to 0, WashU would be giving me a full cost of attendance scholarship (since they add need and merit). Interested in surgical subspecialties (think ortho, nsgy, plastics, ent..) I loved WashU when I visited and think I would receive an outstanding education there. Coronavirus and Dental School operation
Hi, Hope everyone's having a nice pandemic. Question for all the dental students out there (D3's and D'4s mainly). How is this whole quarantine and pandemic affecting dental school clinical education? Are you guys still seeing patients? Are schools shutting down temporarily? I'd be upset if I was paying $100,000 a year as a D3 or D4 to be treating patients and not have the ability to gain that experience I'm paying tons of money for for several weeks or months. Will current M2s get a Clinical Education?
Hypothetical here: Schools are shutting down rotations for M3s/M4s. M2s will be starting rotations in July. Let's say that the Coronavirus continues for a year. Our resources will be drained and there may not be enough attendings to teach OBGYN, psych, surgery, etc. Will the M2s of today be woefully unprepared for residency? Is American attending life as cushy as the salary makes it seem?
Hi all, I am a junior doctor based in the UK and was recently comparing salaries of doctors. American attendings by far get paid the most. I know they leave medical school with hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt and need to repay it, but after that, are attendings swimming in gold?
