MSW: Is school worth investing in?
Hey everyone! I'm applying to MSW/MFT/Counseling programs now. I could go to a program that takes itself seriously and expects you to work hard. I'd spend 50K and work a lot harder. Or I could go to a school that charges 18K - also CSWE accredited - not work as hard - and get the same paper at the end. I would be willing to pay more for a better education. But LCSWs/LMFTs keep telling me that I will learn NOTHING in school. If that's the case I certainly wouldn't want to pay more for an... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UCSF (OOS) vs UPenn
I want to choose a school with good clinical education and supportive environment. Both schools are far from home for me. I’m planning to be a GP for now, but I’m open to explore different specialities. I want to go straight to practice instead of doing GPR or AEGD if I end up choosing to do GP. UCSF has the pass fail honor system, and UPenn uses the GPA grading system (but maybe unranked?). Any advice would be appreciated! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Albert Einstein Vs Downstate- Both Schools in Trouble
Hi all, I’m a NY resident applicant that is fortunate to have acceptances to both Albert Einstein and SUNY Downstate. However if you read the news, both schools are facing headwinds that might impact my education/degree. Downstate- Not even 2 weeks ago, it was announced they’re closing their inpatient wing of their main teaching hospital. Seems like not a lot of current staff/faculty know their future. I’m concerned this will impact my chance to go to in-house residency 4 years from now... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Texas A & M EnMed vs closer-to-partner MD school
Hi everyone, I would like to hear all of your opinions and advice regarding my situation: My bachelor’s degree is in engineering, and I enjoyed it for the most part: I even questioned at times if I should pursue medical school or engineering graduate school following my undergraduate education. After undergrad, I went to work to see what engineering in practice is like; and, I ultimately decided that even though I like engineering, my heart belongs in medicine despite its short-comings. I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Rank List Advice
Rank List Hello! Im feeling a bit overwhelmed so I’m looking for advice on my rank list. I understand I’ll get a decent education anywhere, so location and work life balance are the most important factors for me (except for my number 1, which I loved). I’d love any insight on the work life balance for these programs. 1. Yale 2. Tower Health Phoenixville 3. Temple 4. Metropolitan 5. Mt. Sinai Beth Israel (merging with main in a year) 6. Baycare 7. WMC 8. Montefiore 9. Zucker Hillside... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Why aren't we educating residents about.....
The difference between SDG, CMG, hospital employment? At my "power house" 4 year academic residency, we received not one hour regarding this. Is it that they just have no idea? Don't care? Want to push all the residents into academics? Are ignorant? Combo of all the above? I worked a bit of moonlighting at a community 3 year program w ties to one of the big anti-CMG voices in EM, and they seemed to get it more, but jeez we are really failing the residents. In 2024, is it true that the HPSP should be avoided like the plague?
I am starting medical school in the fall and have been weighing my options in terms of which medical school I will attend and how I will finance my education. I've interviewed at (and been accepted to a couple) T20 schools, which I am very grateful for, but they are all super expensive. One of them is 1hr away from my hometown and all of my family and would be a perfect fit for me. However, I predict I will likely be paying full price for this school. I've always toyed with serving in the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

The SECURE 2.0 Act was passed into law in 2022, but takes effect as of 2024. This act allows funds from a 529 account to be transferred TAX-FREE to a Roth IRA for the beneficiary of the 529 account. This essentially allows you to kickstart a beneficiary’s Roth IRA savings in addition to the educational spending benefits that you get from a 529 plan. Important to know for those who aren't familiar with 529 plans is that the money contributed is post-tax, so for many of us this will... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Help me decide! UArizona-Phoenix vs. U Utah
A little bit about me: I am OOS for both, however I do “benefit” from being an Idaho resident and as an added bonus, my parents live in Phoenix. Therefore, I can technically become in-state for both, by establishing AZ residency with my parents for UA, and by the state of Idaho subsidising my education at Utah. I will get into the cons as to why that is not necessarily great for me. Interests: I am Romanian-born and I speak Spanish fluently after graduating with a degree in it and living...
