Outcomes of atypical (B3) core biopsy lesions diagnosed across BreastScreen NSW, Australia
CONCLUSIONS: The overall upgrade rate of B3 lesions to malignancy was 26.4%. The majority of the lesions were upgraded to DCIS instead of invasive cancer. Upgrade rates varied by lesion type. Lesions with atypia had significantly higher upgrade rates to cancer compared to lesions without atypia. Malignant lesions were significantly larger than benign lesions.PMID:38564975 | PMC:PMC10993176 | DOI:10.1016/j.breast.2024.103720 (Source: Breast)

SpatialcoGCN: deconvolution and spatial information-aware simulation of spatial transcriptomics data via deep graph co-embedding
In this study, we propose that both of the above issues can be significantly improved by introducing a deep graph co-embedding framework. First, we establish a self-supervised, co-graph convolution network-based deep learning model termed SpatialcoGCN, which leverages single-cell data to deconvolve the cell mixtures in spatial data. Evaluations of SpatialcoGCN on a series of simulated ST data and real ST datasets from human ductal carcinoma in situ, developing human heart and mouse brain suggest that SpatialcoGCN could outperform other state-of-the-art cell type deconvolution methods in estimating per-spot cell composition...

Development and validation of a nomogram for predicting lymph node metastasis in ductal carcinoma in situ with microinvasion: A SEER population-based study
ConclusionIn this study, we constructed accurate and practical columnar maps with some clinical benefit to predict the likelihood of lymph node metastasis in patients with postoperatively diagnosed DCIS-MI and provide a reference value for specifying treatment strategies. (Source: PLoS One)

Comparison of long-term outcome between clinically high risk lobular versus ductal breast cancer: a propensity score matched study
EClinicalMedicine. 2024 Mar 20;71:102552. doi: 10.1016/j.eclinm.2024.102552. eCollection 2024 May.ABSTRACTBACKGROUND: Abemaciclib is currently approved for the adjuvant treatment of high-risk, lymph node (LN)-positive, hormone receptor (HR)-positive breast cancer (BC). In a real-world setting the clinicopathologic features of patients potentially eligible for adjuvant abemaciclib remain to be defined. There are conflicting data regarding the biological behavior and long-term outcomes across invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) and invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC). In our study we retrospectively assessed the real-world data and...

Prevalence of BK and JC Polyomaviruses among Patients with Breast Cancer
DISCUSSION: The findings of the current investigation demonstrate that there was an absence of JC virus detection in the breast biopsy. Additionally, a small fraction of patients diagnosed with ductal carcinoma exhibited a low prevalence of genotype IV polyomavirus BK at a rate of 2%. However, in order to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the incidence of BKV and JCV in breast cancer, a substantial number of breast samples must undergo investigation.PMID:38546065 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.3.821 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)
