How much pharmacology/psychopharmacology do you use/are you allowed to use as a psychiatrist?
Considering whether I want to go into medicine. If I did, psychiatry is one of my major leanings as a speciality. I really love pharmacology and psychopharmacology—especially theorizing about things like augmentation strategies and visualizing how all these drugs interact in the brain, distribute through tissues, and use pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics to make reasonable predictions about drugs including concentrations, transporter occupancy, possible CYP450 interactions, etc. While I... Should pain MD's be commanding "Show me the data" on MME conversion? Comments to the FDA: Opioid Dosing Based on Milligram Morphine Equivalents Is Unscientific The following comments will be submitted to the FDA. I will demonstrate why the Morphine Milligram Equivalent (MME) conversion chart, the main pillar of the CDC 2016 Prescribing Guidelines, is deeply flawed. Hence, all opioid policies are based on MMEs are likewise invalid, yet they continue to... www.acsh.org &q...

Tulane Masters vs Cal State East Bay
Hello everyone, I was recently accepted into Tulane Masters of physiology and pharmacology, and Cal State East Bay's postbacc program. From the info I could gathered online: Tulane has very small class size, and the masters students take med school classes, heard good reviews about it on older thread Cal State had been having very high success rate in putting students into professional schools in recent years (AAMC data 51+applied 51+accepted last cycle) Which one should I choose? Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Help me decide: Tulane's MSc. Pharmacology vs MSc. Medical Genetics and Genomics
The title says it all. I was recently offered admission to both the Tulane's MSc. Pharmacology program and Msc. Medical Genetics and Genomics program. I'm having trouble deciding between which one to accept, keeping in mind that the ultimate goal will be to get into medical school. The pharmacology program toutes a "79% of pharmacology MS graduates have gained admittance into medical, dental or graduate school" as compared to the medical genetics and genomics program which reports... Which graduate program is best for Dental anesthesiologists?
Hi all! I'm looking at a couple of options to enhance my application for future cycles. It looks like many suggest SMP with a dental track or high matriculation into a dental school, but what about other programs. In the future, I would like to become a dental anesthesiologist. Going to an SMP would leave me in the same pool of applicants. Would a master's in pharmacology show my commitment to dental schools and residency programs? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Upcoming NBME Cardiovascular system exam
I have an upcoming NBME based exam using school chosen questions from various parts of different NBME subjects for cardiovascular systems and this is my first such exam in MS1. What would you recommend for time spent studying for pathology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, histology/cell bio, biochemistry, and microbiology? If I go by my Gutton Hall Medical Physiology vs. Robbins Pathology, there is more physiology than pathology. When I looked at an NBME basic science exam, it gave a... DIY Post-Bacc CC classes instead of a 4 year university
Hello, I am in a bit of a pickle. I was enrolled in my local 4 year university as a graduate non-degree seeking student during the Fall 2020 semester. During that semester I was successfully able to complete immunology, pathology, pharmacology, and an ethics course with all As. Unfortunately, I did not realize this university had a cap of 12 credits that any graduate non-degree seeking student can enroll in and am no longer able to enroll in courses. I have been trying to become affiliated... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How many of in MS1 have opened a textbook yet?
Upperclassmen and others have told me that during this set of classes called "fundamentals" that we should only rewatch lectures and make Anki cards to memorize the mountain of information we're getting. We are thru biochemistry and gross anatmy with histology and I did quite well, perhaps because I'm a biology major and did a lot of research in my undergraduate studies, but I'm making low to mid B's. I recently finished the first 2 weeks of pharmacology with a borderline B/C and am... How many of in MS1 have opened a textbook yet? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
