What's the deal with "Auvelity"? (new NMDA receptor antagonist)
Got a notification that some biotech stock shot up about 35% today. Turns out that company just got FDA approval for "auvelity" and is marketing it as the greatest thing to come out for depression treatment since SSRIs. Looking into it the chemical formulation seems to be "dextromethorphan HBr -bupropion HCl", and it has been challenging finding peer reviewed articles about how well it really works. Perhaps I'm just too dumb to understand the pharmacology behind it, but isn't this... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should I list a high school research experience when applying MD/PhD?
I've gotten very mixed advice on this and wanted some more opinions. Between my Junior and Senior years of high school I got a paid research internship at a pharmacology lab at the university I eventually attended. The internship lasted 8 weeks and I accumulated about 300 hours on the project. It was an impactful experience for me and was my first introduction into real research. It lead me getting interested in academic research and I won 4th place at the state level science fair for my... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Can an M.Pharm. student give the FPGEE Exam?
Hey Everyone. I am an M.Pharm. Graduate. (Masters in Pharmacy) (Pharmacology) from India. I wanted to know if I am eligible to give the FPGEE Exam for the USA? I checked the NABP website and bulletin for this but I didn't feel that it's clearly mentioned for my case so I couldn't understand. Clear answers would be a good help and I'd really appreciate. Thank You! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Where to learn more about adult ADHD?
I feel I had a very good residency training experience but I've been inundated with adult ADHD referrals since coming out of training. I've also recently finished reading ADHD Nation by Alan Schwarz and guess I'm having a bit of an existential question about the nature of ADHD. I'm not looking for resources on how to treat ADHD, I'm very comfortable with my pharmacology knowledge in that regards. More wondering about resources talking about how to better diagnose ADHD, impairments to look... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is it possible to go into the medical field with a bad 9th and 10th grade year
My second semester for tenth grade hasn't started yet but I didn't do the best. I'm going to do better second semester because bullying stuff is mostly out of the way and I can finally do my work. I just want to know if it is worth trying or if I should give up since my GPA is basically ruined. I am genuinely passionate about pharmacy and pharmacology but my GPA is going to be lower because of two bad years and I don't think I could ever get into pharmacy school because of it. I don't know... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
