How often do you encounter patients from other countries with no travel insurance...
I have encountered almost at least once every couple admitting shifts there are one or two patients who travelled from another country just to take advantage of the healthcare here. But have no insurance or plan to pay, and our hospital eats the costs. Anyone in the ER notice the same? Or just my city? Had one patient was a grandfather to family living here in the US. This grandfather resided in India and had been told by his doctor there that his diabetic/PVD diseased maggot infested and... Are volunteers ethically allowed to do this?
I volunteer at a free medical clinic for low income and uninsured individuals. I ask the patient's birthdate to confirm, then take height, weight, blood pressure (automatic), temperature, and record respiratory rate. On rarer occasions I do finger pricks to test blood sugar for diabetic patients, or ask female OBGYN patients a... Are volunteers ethically allowed to do this? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Bad GPA. What should I do next?
Hello everyone, I live in NYC and am a nontraditional application here. I had a tough time during undergrad and graduated in 2017. I have a cGPA 3.1 and a sGPA 2.8. Took the DAT and got a 22AA (22PAT, 23QR, 20RC, 24B, 23GC, 19OC, 21TS) but felt that I could do better with more practice. During my undergrad years, my parents actually fell sick twice, mom with breast cancer twice, and dad from multiple heart attacks from stress eating, then got diabetes and was uncontrolled, etc. That led to...
