Comprehensive management of challenging recurrent aortoiliac and lower extremity occlusive disease with simultaneous modified-covered endovascular reconstruction of the aortic bifurcation, inferior mesenteric artery snorkel, and lower extremity bypass
CONCLUSION: This comprehensive management approach, combining simultaneous modified-CERAB, IMA snorkel, and LE bypass, provides an effective alternative for addressing complex AIOD and LE occlusive disease patients with hostile abdomen.PMID:38596896 | DOI:10.1177/17085381241245874 (Source: Vascular)

Drug-induced Steatohepatitis Caused by Long-term Use of Topical Steroids for Atopic Dermatitis: A Case Report
Intern Med. 2024 Apr 9. doi: 10.2169/internalmedicine.3439-23. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAtopic dermatitis is common in children and often treated with topical corticosteroids (TCs). A boy in his late teens who had been using TCs for atopic dermatitis was diagnosed with liver damage during a health checkup. A medical examination revealed severe steatotic liver disease and elevated liver enzyme levels despite the absence of typical symptoms such as central obesity. After discontinuation of TCs, an improvement in liver enzyme levels was observed, leading to the diagnosis of drug-induced steatohepatitis. This case undersc...

18 β-glycyrrhetinic acid alleviates radiation-induced skin injury by activating the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway
In conclusion, our results suggest that 18β-GA reduces intracellular ROS production and apoptosis by activating the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway, leading to amelioration of radiation dermatitis.PMID:38598859 | DOI:10.1515/hsz-2023-0200 (Source: Biological Chemistry)

Paradoxical Psoriasis
Cytokine blocking therapies have revolutionized the management of psoriasis and atopic dermatitis but can lead to the development of paradoxic psoriasis (PP). Patients treated with biologics should be closely monitored for the development of PP and other paradoxical eruptions (including inflammatory joint disease, inflammatory bowel disease, eczematous eruptions, lupus like eruptions, sarcoidal eruptions, and others) and occasionally the development of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. Further understanding the immunologic mechanism of these processes will ultimately drive our understanding of and ability to predict and manage PP...

The ART(N) of Keratinocytes Leading Neurons into the Skin
Chronic itch is the most burdensome symptom among patients with atopic dermatitis (AD). Itch negatively affects sleep and QOL. Itch provokes the desire to scratch, leading to the vicious itch-scratch cycle that worsens epidermal barrier function and contributes to disease induction (St änderet al, 2024). Recent advances in immunology and neurobiology have led to the elucidation of neuro-immune mechanisms underpinning itch. The itch sensation requires the generation of action potentials initiated in sensory nerve fibers in the periphery. (Source: Journal of Investigative Dermatology)
