Treatment of Netherton Syndrome in Pediatrics with Upadacitinib
CONCLUSIONS: Initiation of Upadacitinib at a daily dose of 15 mg yielded significant therapeutic benefits within a short timeframe. This study marks the first documented use of Upadacitinib in pediatric Netherton syndrome treatment. This case highlights the efficacy of Upadacitinib in treating Netherton syndrome, particularly in pediatric patients. Further studies are warranted to elucidate its long-term effects and optimal dosing regimens.PMID:38607195 (Source: Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine)

Impact of chrono-radiotherapy on the prognosis and treatment-related toxicity in patients with locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma: A multicenter propensity-matched study
Chronobiol Int. 2024 Apr 12:1-11. doi: 10.1080/07420528.2024.2337887. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe timing of radiotherapy (RT) delivery has been reported to affect both cancer survival and treatment toxicity. However, the association among the timing of RT delivery, survival, and toxicity in locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LA-NPC) has not been investigated. We retrospectively reviewed patients diagnosed with LA-NPC who received definitive RT at multiple institutions. The median RT delivery daytime was categorized as morning (DAY) and night (NIGHT). Seasonal variations were classified into the darker half of...

The association between expression of CD200 on B lymphocytes and the count of eosinophils and basophils in atopic dermatitis patients with and without dupilumab therapy - Pilot study
CONCLUSION: The higher association between eosinophils and expression of CD200 molecule on memory, naive and non switched B lymphocytes in AD patients under dupilumab therapy suggests that activation of B lymphocytes is caused by IL-4, whose production involves eosinophils and the CD200 molecule on B lymphocytes.PMID:38603859 | DOI:10.1016/j.intimp.2024.112023 (Source: International Immunopharmacology)

Proton beam reirradiation for locally recurrent rectal cancer patients with prior pelvic irradiation
J Radiat Res. 2024 Apr 10:rrae019. doi: 10.1093/jrr/rrae019. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe aim of the present study was to report the feasibility of proton beam reirradiation for patients with locally recurrent rectal cancer (LRRC) with prior pelvic irradiation. The study population included patients who were treated with proton beam therapy (PBT) for LRRC between 2008 and December 2019 in our institution. Those who had a history of distant metastases of LRRC, with or without treatment, before reirradiation, were excluded. Overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS) and local control (LC) were estimated usin...

Atopic Keratoconjunctivitis: Pathophysiology, Clinic, and Potential New Therapeutic Concepts
Klin Monbl Augenheilkd. 2024 Apr 11. doi: 10.1055/a-2244-2885. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAtopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic recurrent inflammatory skin disease with a bipolar age distribution in childhood, adolescence and middle adulthood. Up to 50% of AD patients show ocular involvement, which can be potentially sight threatening. Clinically, the majority of cases present with atopic blepharo(kerato)conjunctivitis or atopic keratoconjunctivitis (AKC); other clinical variants from this group of inflammatory ocular surface diseases are keratoconjunctivitis vernalis in childhood and adolescence and allergic conjunctivit...
