A case report of an unusual cerebral hydatid cyst
CONCLUSION: Intracranial hydatid cyst is an extremely rare condition and should always be considered a possible differential diagnosis in cases of cerebral cystic lesions. Hydrodissection is the preferred surgical method for resection; however, in atypical cases such as the one described here, meticulous dissection of the cyst capsule from the brain parenchyma may be successful with minimal risk of intraoperative rupture.PMID:38628511 | PMC:PMC11021106 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_70_2024 (Source: Surgical Neurology International)

Penetrating head trauma resulting from vigilante street justice
CONCLUSION: Proper handling and rapid transport of patients to the advanced trauma center are crucial for victims of PBI. Timely and skilled interventions could prevent further nervous tissue damage and any related neurological dysfunction.PMID:38628506 | PMC:PMC11021100 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_1031_2023 (Source: Surgical Neurology International)

Measurement and Application of Incidentally Detected Coronary Calcium: JACC Review Topic of the Week
J Am Coll Cardiol. 2024 Apr 23;83(16):1557-1567. doi: 10.1016/j.jacc.2024.01.039.ABSTRACTCoronary artery calcium (CAC) scoring is a powerful tool for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk stratification. The nongated, noncontrast chest computed tomography scan (NCCT) has emerged as a source of CAC characterization with tremendous potential due to the high volume of NCCT scans. Application of incidental CAC characterization from NCCT has raised questions around score accuracy, standardization of methodology including the possibility of deep learning to automate the process, and the risk stratification potential of an ...

Assessment of atherosclerotic plaque burden: comparison of AI-QCT versus SIS, CAC, visual and CAD-RADS stenosis categories
This study assesses the agreement of Artificial Intelligence-Quantitative Computed Tomography (AI-QCT) with qualitative approaches to atherosclerotic disease burden codified in the multisociety 2022 CAD-RADS 2.0 Expert Consensus. 105 patients who underwent cardiac computed tomography angiography (CCTA) for chest pain were evaluated by a blinded core laboratory through FDA-cleared software (Cleerly, Denver, CO) that performs AI-QCT through artificial intelligence, analyzing factors such as % stenosis, plaque volume, and plaque composition. AI-QCT plaque volume was then staged by recently validated prognostic thresholds, and...

Head to head comparison of < sup > 68 < /sup > Ga-FAPI PET/CT with < sup > 18 < /sup > F-FDG PET/CT in primary and metastatic lesions of gastric tumor: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: This meta-analysis concluded that 68Ga-FAPI PET/CT was significantly more sensitive than 18F-FDG PET/CT in assessing primary gastric tumors, lymph nodes, and distant metastases, but the difference in the specificity of lymph node metastasis was not significant.PMID:38629816 | DOI:10.1967/s002449912703 (Source: Hellenic Journal of Nuclear Medicine)
