Societal perspectives on menopause and the menopause cultural revolution: friend or foe to healthcare practitioners?
While menopause has long being viewed as stigmatised, or secret ‘women’s business’, it has begun to hit headlines across Northern Europe and increasingly in the US through celebrity endorsements, public awareness campaigns and growing consultancy and lifestyle consumer markets. This presentation will discuss these trends as part of a social contemporary la ndscape of menopause, including the impact of ‘gendered ageism’ and how recent popular and media commentary around women’s midlife health experiences connects with cultural and economic outcomes. What is a food system? Exploring enactments of the food system multiple
AbstractRecent years have seen widespread calls to transform food systems to address complex demands such as feeding a growing global population while reducing environmental impacts. But what is a food system and how can we most effectively work to change it? “Food System” can be found describing more limited dietary regimens as well as sector-specific supply chains going back to the 1930s, but its use to describe very large, dynamic, coupled socio-ecological systems gained traction in academic and civil society publications in the 1990s and this use of the term has increased dramatically in recent years. When the infl...

EFOMP policy statement 17: The role and competences of medical physicists and medical physics experts in the different stages of a medical device life cycle
During the EFOMP Council meeting in October 2019 in Warsaw, a proposal of the Maltese delegation was accepted to work out a policy statement concerning the involvement of MPPs in the various stages of a medical device life cycle starting from the definition of requirements at the procurement stage to final decommissioning. Up to now, there are no clear EU guidelines for healthcare institutes concerning this issue. According to the European Guidelines on the Medical Physics Expert, MPPs are competent for clinical medical device management, development of service quality and cost-effectiveness, expert consultancy, health tec...

Evolution in Health and Medical Humanities education: a proposal for accreditation
The growth of Health and Medical Humanities baccalaureate and master’s degrees in recent decades makes the present moment ideal for initiating field-defining conversations among health humanities constituents about the boundaries of this transdisciplinary field. Focusing on accreditation at the programme level rather than the individual level, we explore four models with different advantages for Health and Medical Humanities: a certification for practice; a network (umbrella organisation); a programme of merit (POM) model; and consultancy. We conclude that for a young field like health humanities that is transdiscipl...

Assessing the linkage among green finance, technology, and education expenditure: evidence from G7 economies
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Feb 16. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-25625-1. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe growth of green finance is a multifaceted system, including the interaction of three spheres: the economy, the environment, and the finance sector. Spending on education is a singular intellectual contribution to a society's attempts to achieve sustainability through the application of skills, the provision of consultancies, the delivery of training, and the dissemination of knowledge. University scientists sound the first warnings about environmental problems and help lead the charge toward transdisciplinary technol...

Counseling organizations remotely: A qualitative inductive research on the adjustment process.
This study aimed to investigate how OD consultants adjusted their labor activity from a predominantly face-to-face to a solely technology-mediated setting. We adopted a bottom-up research approach to inductive concept development, following Gioia and colleagues’ (2013) methodology to study the adaptation process of 10 external and internal OD consultants. The findings indicate a parallel to Lewin’s (1951) famous three-phase model of change. We suggest that our emergent framework can be well applied by other occupational fields (e.g., education sector, therapy, consultancies) in a transition process to a virtual setting...

The human embryonic genome is karyotypically complex, with chromosomally abnormal cells preferentially located away from the developing fetus
AbstractSTUDY QUESTIONAre chromosome abnormalities detected at Day 3 post-fertilization predominantly retained in structures of the blastocyst other than the inner cell mass (ICM), where chromosomally normal cells are preferentially retained?SUMMARY ANSWERIn human embryos, aneuploid cells are sequestered away from the ICM, partly to the trophectoderm (TE) but more significantly to the blastocoel fluid within the blastocoel cavity (Bc) and to peripheral cells (PCs) surrounding the blastocyst during Day 3 to Day 5 progression.WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADYA commonly held dogma in all diploid eukaryotes is that two gametes, each with ...

Chinese guideline on the application of anti-seizure medications in the perioperative period of supratentorial craniocerebral surgery
Ther Adv Neurol Disord. 2022 Aug 16;15:17562864221114357. doi: 10.1177/17562864221114357. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTSeizures are a common symptom of craniocerebral diseases, and epilepsy is one of the comorbidities of craniocerebral diseases. However, how to rationally use anti-seizure medications (ASMs) in the perioperative period of craniocerebral surgery to control or avoid seizures and reduce their associated harm is a problem. The China Association Against Epilepsy (CAAE) united with the Trauma Group of the Chinese Neurosurgery Society, Glioma Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, Neuro-Oncolog...
