Ps 2018
When should I start writing this PS. I am applying in June, but I figure I should have it finished before asking for LOR? Also, what are things you wish you would have done before the application opens up in June? The ones that comes to mind is having all LOR, have PS done, and having official transcripts from all colleges (is this a hard copy or how does this work)? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Can you help me find a list of colleges that don ’t require non custodial parent information?
My parents are divorced, and my dad lives in Africa and I have no relationship or contact with him. Most selective universities that meet full need require non custodial parent information, but I cannot provide it so unless I receive the waiver I would not be able to apply for financial aid. I’m only a freshman but so far my grades are good (A’s in honors classes and one AP class). I also have pretty good extracurriculars: hospital volunteering (start in February), a part of a group that... To become a psychiatrist, what do I major in?
Hi, I know there are a few similar threads on this topic but they are all from 2009, so I wanted a more updated response. I am a senior in high school and have applied to colleges with an intended major of psychology. I love the topic and want to major in it and my plan was to take medical school pre-requisites along with my major. However, my father recently talked to his psychologist about it and said it may be beneficial for me to do a 7 year medical program, like one that is offered at... Confused on DAT application
Hello all! So from what I understand, the basic process is: obtain DENTPIN; apply for DAT and get approval; then actually schedule DAT date and choose colleges to send scores to. I plan to take my DAT Feb 2018, and applications open June 2018. So what I want to make sure is it is still possible and logical to choose my colleges of choice to which I want to apply to on my DAT application (even though I haven't yet actually submitted any applications to those schools)? Because otherwise, if... Confused on DAT application (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Retaking courses from different colleges
My university does not allow you to retake a course if you have passed. I got a C+ in gen chem and a C in gen bio my freshman year and I want to retake them. If I do it at a local community college, will amcas average the two grades since it is the same course? Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

6 year foreign med school or go to college and do premed?
-btw I posted something similar to this in the MD + high school forum a few weeks back- just wanted some input from foreign grads now- I'm a 17 year old high school senior, and I have to apply to colleges soon. I'm interested in the health field, but I'm not 100% sure yet if I want to be either a doctor (Pediatrician) or a Physician Assistant (PA). I want to go to a U.S college and either complete pre-med or pre-pa, I might even do pre-health since I don't know which health field I want to... 6 year foreign med school or go to college and do premed? Help Me Decide: MSU & R-NJMS or NYIT
Hello friends! I am a high school senior currently applying to colleges. Now, this may be a bit premature (ba-dum), but I just want to close a conflict I have. I know it is tough to believe a 17-year-old, but I feel medicine is my calling and have for some time now. For the record, I have a 1310 SAT, 16 on the essay portion, a unweighted GPA of 3.32 (NYIT only looks at weighted), a weighted GPA of 3.62, and a math/sciences average of a lower B (about 82%). Both schools will require me to... Help Me Decide: MSU & R-NJMS or NYIT (Source: Student Doctor Network)
