Incidence of blood culture-related sepsis in neonates and antibiotics sensitivity of implicated organisms in a secondary healthcare facility in Ghana
CONCLUSION: Late-onset sepsis is a common sepsis category, and the implicated microorganisms are resistant to commonly prescribed antibiotics.FUNDING: This work was funded by Upper East Regional Hospital, Bolgatanga.PMID:38504752 | PMC:PMC10846657 | DOI:10.4314/gmj.v57i2.8 (Source: Ghana Medical Journal)

Analysis of carbapenem-resistant < em > Acinetobacter baumannii < /em > carbapenemase gene distribution and biofilm formation
CONCLUSION: The clinical strains have a high resistance rate to carbapenems, and the CRAB with blaOXA-51 and blaOXA-23 genes has a high resistance to antibiotics and a strong biofilm.PMID:38505565 | PMC:PMC10944714 (Source: International Journal of Molecular Epidemiology and Genetics)

Antibacterial, Fatigue-Resistant, and Self-Healing Dressing from Natural-Based Composite Hydrogels for Infected Wound Healing
Biomacromolecules. 2024 Mar 19. doi: 10.1021/acs.biomac.3c01385. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe treatment of infected wounds faces substantial challenges due to the high incidence and serious infection-related complications. Natural-based hydrogel dressings with favorable antibacterial properties and strong applicability are urgently needed. Herein, we developed a composite hydrogel by constructing multiple networks and loading ciprofloxacin for infected wound healing. The hydrogel was synthesized via a Schiff base reaction between carboxymethyl chitosan and oxidized sodium alginate, followed by the polymerization of th...

Combination MEG3 lncRNA and Ciprofloxacin dramatically decreases cell migration and viability as well as induces apoptosis in GC cells in vitro
In conclusion, combining MEG3 lncRNA with Ciprofloxacin may be an effective therapeutic approach for GC treatment by influencing the miR-14-BCl-2 axis, resulting in reduced cell viability, migration, and increased apoptosis. (Source: Biotechnology and Applied Biochemistry)
