Non-invasive Estimation of Pressure Drop Across Aortic Coarctations: Validation of 0D and 3D Computational Models with In Vivo Measurements
The objective of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of [Formula: see text] estimates derived non-invasively using patient-specific 0D and 3D deformable wall simulations. Medical imaging and routine clinical measurements were used to create patient-specific models of patients with CoA (N = 17). 0D simulations were performed first and used to tune boundary conditions and initialize 3D simulations. [Formula: see text] across the CoA estimated using both 0D and 3D simulations were compared to invasive catheter-based pressure measurements for validation. The 0D simulations were extremely efficient ([Formula: see text] 15 s...

Cardiac Catheterization Interventions in the Right Ventricular Outflow Tract and Branch Pulmonary Arteries Following the Arterial Switch Operation
The objective of this study was to describe the degree and nature of right ventricular outflow tract obstruction found during cardiac catheterization among patients following the arterial switch operation  as well as determine the rate of intervention and assess the acute impact of any catheter intervention undertaken. We conducted a retrospective study of patients after arterial switch operation with the LeCompte maneuver and subsequent right heart catheterization. Descriptive statistics were repo rted, and paired sample t tests were used for analysis. 544 children had an arterial switch operation, of which 110 children...

Platelet Fc γRIIa expression in patients with stable coronary artery disease
CONCLUSIONS: Compared to patients with MI, patients with stable CAD had, on average, lower platelet FcɣRIIa. However, the range of platelet FcɣRIIa was similar to that seen in patients with MI. These results support future studies designed to assess the prognostic implications of platelet FcɣRIIa in patients with stable CAD.PMID:38335505 | DOI:10.25270/jic/23.00247 (Source: The Journal of Invasive Cardiology)
