Young Filipino breast cancer patients have worse survival outcomes
CONCLUSION: Young Filipino breast cancer patients have demonstrated unique pathologic characteristics with associated lower survival outcomes similar to the published literature. Increasing awareness of cancer screening practices among young women, provision of equitable access to healthcare, and prompt management of breast cancer in the young are crucial.PMID:38414931 | PMC:PMC10898912 | DOI:10.3332/ecancer.2023.1639 (Source: Ecancermedicalscience)

Prognosis and Adjusting Factors in Elderly Patients With Triple-Negative Breast Cancer: Comparing With Young and Middle Age Groups
CONCLUSION: TNBC presents challenges in older patients, who receive less aggressive treatment and have poorer outcomes. The primary cause of poor prognosis in old TNBC patients is the high disease stage at diagnosis, underscoring the need for promotion and education on early screening. Additionally, it is suggested that a more proactive approach to adjuvant chemotherapy is necessary for stage II old TNBC patients.PMID:38413338 | DOI:10.1016/j.clbc.2024.01.016 (Source: Clinical Breast Cancer)

Effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Immediate Breast Reconstruction Outcomes
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, various organizations, including the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, recommended postponing or canceling elective surgeries, including mastectomies with prosthetic reconstruction, to conserve resources and prevent infections, with only the most urgent cases proceeding with surgery.1 Previous studies have examined the impact of COVID-19 on immediate breast reconstruction (IBR) after mastectomy, but predictors of increased complication risks have not been elucidated. Stabilised Hyaluronic Acid (sHA) gel as a novel marker for breast cancer tumour bed cavity: Surgical feasibility
CONCLUSION: We show that sHA gel is surgically feasible as a marker to help define the TB cavity for post-BCS adjuvant MRI-based RT planning.PMID:38406647 | PMC:PMC10885548 | DOI:10.1016/j.ctro.2024.100745 (Source: Clinical Breast Cancer)
