Post-mastectomy reirradiation for ipsilateral T3N0M0 breast tumor relapse: a  population-based study
ConclusionFor patients undergoing total mastectomy after an ipsilateral T3N0M0 breast tumor recurrence, subsequent to initial breast cancer treatment involving breast-conserving surgery and adjuvant radiotherapy, chest wall reirradiation does not enhance survival outcomes. As such, it should not be routinely performed. (Source: Strahlentherapie und Onkologie)

Intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) of early breast cancer with low-energy x-rays in breast-conserving surgery
ConclusionWe observed that preoperative ultrasound-based tumor –skin distance is a significant factor in addition to already known parameters to predict feasibility of IORT. Based on our findings we developed a formula to optimize IORT planning which might serve as an additional tool to improve patient selection for IORT in early breast cancer. Major complications after intraoperative radiotherapy with low-energy x-rays in early breast cancer
ConclusionIORT is an efficient and safe treatment method as<  2.5% of all IORT patients experienced major local complications. However, it seems to pose the risk of causing severe local complications that may require lengthy and burdensome treatment. Thorough preoperative counseling, implementation of recommended intraoperative precautions, and high vigilan ce for first symptoms of complications during follow-up appointments are necessary measures. Quality of Life Outcomes Associated With Optimization of Treatment by Omitting Radiotherapy in Early Breast Cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Omission of RT was associated with better QoL and functional and cosmetic outcomes. It was highly acceptable to patients. Clinicians should consider the potential for preserved QoL associated with treatment optimization via omission of RT in treatment planning for patients with EBC.PMID:38548516 | DOI:10.1016/j.clbc.2024.03.002 (Source: Clinical Breast Cancer)

Three-dimensional surgical margin positioning technique versus palpation-guided method for breast-conserving surgery: Feasibility, advantages, and quality of life
CONCLUSION: The 3D-MPT technique proves to be an effective and safe approach for reducing tumor positivity rates in initial surgical margins, thereby improving the quality of life for patients undergoing breast-conserving surgery in comparison to the conventional method.PMID:38548542 | DOI:10.1016/j.asjsur.2024.03.087 (Source: Asian Journal of Surgery)
