A novel cuproptosis-related prognostic gene signature in adrenocortical carcinoma
CONCLUSIONS: CDKN2A and FDX1 are independent prognostic predictors of patients with ACC. Cuproptosis may play a role in the development of ACC, providing a new perspective on therapeutic strategies related to CRGs for cancer prevention and treatment.PMID:37997497 | DOI:10.1002/jcla.24981 (Source: Cancer Control)

Case Report: Adrenocortical carcinoma in children —symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment
We report a rare case of adrenocortical carcinoma in a girl and a literature review using the PubMed database. A four-year-old girl presented with rapidly progressing precocious puberty and signs of Cushing’s syndrome. Imaging of the abdomen revealed a large heterogeneous solid mass. Histopathologic evaluation confirmed adrenocortical carcinoma with high mitotic activity, atypical mitoses, pleomorphism, necrosis, and vascular invasion. After tumourectomy, a decrease of previously elevated hormonal blood parameters was observed. Genetic tests confirmed Li Fraumeni syndrome. Adrenocortical carcinoma should be suspected in ...

Discussion
Dr Priya Dedhia (Ohio State): Your team has filled a gap in the research that has been done on adrenocortical carcinoma and our ability to prognosticate the risk of occurrence. Adrenocortical carcinoma is a heterogeneous disease, and the clinical presentation and disease progression can be quite variable. Because of that, it is very difficult for us to predict what is going to happen to the patient. Being able to prognosticate the risk of recurrence is important. To that effect, the American Joint Committee on Cancer has developed a staging system, and that staging system involves the T-stage and all the things that Dr Zub...

Validated predictive model for treatment and prognosis of adrenocortical carcinoma
Adrenocortical carcinoma has a poor prognosis and multiple clinical, pathological, and treatment variables. Currently, we lack a prognostic and treatment calculator to determine the survival and efficacy of adjuvant chemoradiation. We aimed to validate a calculator to assess prognosis and treatment. Impact of EDP-M on Survival of Patients with Metastatic Adrenocortical Carcinoma: A population-based study
Historically, stage IV adrenocortical carcinoma (mACC) has a poor prognosis with a median overall survival (OS) of only 5 months. Based on the FIRM-ACT trial published in 2012, guidelines now advise first line systemic treatment with etoposide, cisplatin, doxorubicin and mitotane (EDP-M). The effect of EDP-M on patient survival in clinical practice in the Netherlands is unknown. (Source: European Journal of Cancer)

The effect of hormonal secretion on survival in adrenocortical carcinoma: A multi-center study
Current evidence suggests that cortisol secreting adrenocortical carcinoma has worse prognosis compared to non-secreting adrenocortical carcinoma. However, the effect of other secretory subtypes is unknown. (Source: Surgery)

Defining Optimal Management of Non-metastatic Adrenocortical Carcinoma
CONCLUSION: Tumor biology and surgical margins are the primary determinants of survival in non-metastatic ACC. Surgical extent and lymphadenectomy are not associated with overall survival. In advanced disease, the open approach is associated with improved survival.PMID:37925657 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14533-w (Source: Ann Oncol)

Exploring the role of the disulfidptosis-related gene SLC7A11 in adrenocortical carcinoma: implications for prognosis, immune infiltration, and therapeutic strategies
Disulfidptosis and the disulfidptosis-related gene SLC7A11 have recently attracted significant attention for their role in tumorigenesis and tumour management. However, its association with adrenocortical carc... (Source: Cancer Cell International)
