Symptom Management in a Patient with Adrenocortical Carcinoma – Targeting Glucocorticoid and Androgen Excess
1. Utilizing a case report, participants will be able to familiarize themselves with the epidemiology and clinical course of adrenocortical carcinoma and learn how to best employ the strengths of a multi-disciplinary palliative care team to provide optimal management of symptoms and complex medical decision making.2. Utilizing a case-report, participants will be able to identify the many distressing symptoms related to hormone excess associated with adrenocortical carcinoma and with the collaboration of endocrinology experts, be able to employ several treatment options to manage difficult, often refractory symptoms. The prognostic biomarker TPGS2 is correlated with immune infiltrates in pan-cancer: a bioinformatics analysis
CONCLUSIONS: TPGS2 is aberrantly expressed in most cancer tissues and might be associated with immune cell infiltration in the tumor microenvironment. TPGS2 could serve not only as a biomarker for predicting clinical outcomes, but also as a promising biomarker for evaluating and developing new approaches to immunotherapy in many types of cancers, especially colon adenocarcinoma and stomach adenocarcinoma.PMID:38617524 | PMC:PMC11009813 | DOI:10.21037/tcr-23-113 (Source: Cell Research)

Enhanced chronic inflammation and increased branched chain amino acids in adrenal disorders: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSION: Patients with functioning and non-functioning adrenal masses demonstrated increased GlycA and BCAA, biomarkers associated with adverse cardiometabolic disorders and mortality. Patients with NFA demonstrated an adverse metabolic profile similar to patients with MACS and CS.PMID:38546526 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae204 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)
