In this study, novel hollow gold nanoparticles (HGNPs) were used as drug carriers, and in order to improve the targeting ability of HGNPs to a lung tumor site, polyoxyethylene sorbitol oleate (PSO) was chosen here as a target ligand since it can be specifically recognized by the low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor which is usually over expressed on A549 lung cancer cells. In this way, a PSO-modified doxorubicin-loaded HGNP drug delivery system (PSO-HGNPs-DOX) was constructed and its physicochemical properties, photothermal conversion ability, and drug release of PSO-HGNPs-DOX was investigated. Further, the effects of tr...

Authors: Hong D, Zhao HM Abstract Under the hydrothermal reaction condition, we prepared a new 3D Eu(III)-based coordination polymer (CP) [Eu(H2-DHBDC)0.5(DHBDC)0.5 (H2O)2]n·H2O (1, H4-DHBDC = 2,5-dihydroxy-1,4-terephthalic acid). Furthermore, we assessed the inhibitory influence on cervical cancer cells of this compound. Firstly, for testing the anti-viability of the compound against cervical cancer cells, the Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay was carried out. Then reactive oxygen species (ROS) detection kit was used to determine the ROS accumulation in the cervical cancer cells. Finally, after the Annexin ...

Authors: Lin L, Xu X, Yu Y, Ye H, He X, Chen S, Chen X, Shao Z, Chen P Abstract Objective: There were some clinical studies on GLP-1R agonist liraglutide therapy for psoriasis patients with type 2 diabetes, but there is a lack of randomized controlled trials and the mechanism of which remains unclear.Method: A total of 25 psoriasis patients with type 2 diabetes were randomized 1: 1 divided into the control group (n = 13) or liraglutide group (n = 12) for 12 weeks. We determined the PASI, the DLQI, histopathology of psoriasis skin, and the expression of IL-17, IL-23, and TNF-α in th...

Authors: Marques E, Paluch Z, Boháč P, Slanař O, Běláček J, Hercogová J Abstract INTRODUCTION: Understanding how different comorbidities and epidemiological factors are related to psoriasis severity can help us estimating patients' clinical outcome. AIM: Establish possible prognostic factors of severe psoriasis. METHODS: Three groups of patients were included: 118 were on topical therapy, 83 used conventional systemic drugs and 112 were treated with biological agents. Based of the fact that patients on topical therapy have a lower grade of disease severity than patients treated syst...

CONCLUSIONS: iSystemic C. septicum infection without a traumatic cause has been associated with malignancy, although an initial presentation of endophthalmitis has rarely been reported. In cases of clostridial endogenous endophthalmitis, investigation for colorectal carcinoma is indicated. PMID: 32966149 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

CONCLUSIONS: The validity of ICD-10 codes for cirrhosis, oesophageal varices and HCC is high. However, coding for ascites should be combined with a code of chronic liver disease to have an acceptable validity. PMID: 32960654 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

This article addresses the Evaluation of Ertugliflozin Efficacy and Safety Cardiovascular Outcomes (VERTIS-CV) trial, its background, design, results, and implications. In patients at least 40 years of age with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), the VERTIS-CV trial demonstrated ertugliflozin was non-inferior to placebo for major adverse cardiovascular events, though not superior. Ertugliflozin significantly reduced hospitalization for heart failure compared to placebo. The composite renal outcome was not significantly different between groups. Ertugliflozin was generally well tolerated with a safety profi...
