Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration diagnosis of secondary tumors involving pancreas: an institution's experience

ConclusionsOur data demonstrated that metastatic clear cell renal cell carcinoma was the most common secondary tumor involving the pancreas. Secondary tumors involving the pancreas can be accurately diagnosed by EUS-FNA. Knowing the prior history of malignancy, recognizing uncommon cytomorphologic features, and performing ancillary studies are keys to improve diagnostic accuracy.

Abstract A near-infrared (NIR) photothermal immunoassay was designed for the sensitive monitoring of CA 19-9 on the capture antibody-coated microplate, coupling a 3D-printed device with a digital thermometer in this work. Prussian blue nanoparticles (PBNPs)-encapsulated CaCO3 microspheres were not only utilized for labeling of detection antibody, but used as the photo-heat conversion materials for the signal amplification. With the sandwiched immunocomplex, the as-released PBNPs under acidic conditions adsorbed and converted NIR-light wavelength to heat under 808-nm laser irradiation, thereby resulting in the temp...

Abstract RNA molecules carry diverse modifications that exert important influences in many cellular processes. In addition to the single modification occurring in either nucleobase or 2' hydroxyl of ribose in RNA, some dual modifications occur in both the nucleobase and 2' hydroxyl of ribose in RNA. 2'-O-methyl-5-methylcytidine (m5Cm), the dual modifications of cytidine, was first discovered from the tRNA of archaea. Recent studies identified that 2'-O-methyl-5-hydroxymethylcytidine (hm5Cm) and 2'-O-methyl-5-formylcytidine (f5Cm) were present in the anticodon of cytoplasmic tRNA of mammals. Similar to the series o...

Colmenero, A. TorreloAbstractA Spitz nevus is a melanocytic neoplasm of epithelioid and/or spindle cells that usually appears in childhood. These lesions are by nature benign, but their features can sometimes make them difficult to distinguish from melanomas. Spitzoid melanocytic lesions have been grouped into 3 types in recent decades: Spitz nevi, atypical Spitz tumors, and spitzoid melanomas. Atypical Spi...

Colmenero, A. TorreloAbstractMelanocytic neoplasms with spitzoid morphology (Spitz nevi, atypical Spitz tumors, and spitzoid melanomas) may be benign or malignant. Because the malignant potential of atypical Spitz tumors is uncertain, the proper therapeutic approach has been much debated over the years. Promising new techniques for molecular analysis have enabled better predictions of the biological ...

Authors: Crapé L, Strubbe B, Cesmeli E, de Clerck F Abstract A 24-year-old male presented with abdominal pain, postprandial vomiting and weight loss. Lab results showed an elevated serum eosinophil count and CT-scan demonstrated a thickened antral, duodenal and jejunal wall. Repetitive endoscopic mucosal biopsies were normal. Work-up of eosinophilia-associated gastro-intestinal disorders excluded secondary causes. Bone marrow showed an elevated eosinophil count without arguments for a primary hypereosinophilic syndrome. Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle biopsy detected a strongly elevated number of eo...

However, whether small interfering RNA (siRNA) mediated knockdown of α7nAChR can reduce sorafenib (SOR) resistance in HCC cells remains to be determined.Materials and methodsThe effects ...
