Endoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Fine-Needle Aspiration Diagnosis of Secondary Tumors Involving Pancreas: An Institution ’s Experience

Conclusions Our data demonstrated metastatic renal cell carcinoma was the most common secondary tumor involving the pancreas. Secondary tumors involving the pancreas can be accurately diagnosed by EUS-FNA. Knowing the prior history of malignancy, recognizing uncommon cytomorphologic features and performing ancillary studies are keys to improve diagnostic accuracy.

ConclusionCongenital piriform sinus fistula is an important cause of deep neck abscess in children. The presence of purulent gas-liquid equilibrium or air shadow in cervical-enhanced computed tomography or ultrasound suggests a high possibility of the presence of an internal fistula, and endoscopic low temperature ablation can be done at the same time as the diagnostic endoscopy.ResumoIntroduçãoA fístula congênita do seio piriforme é uma doença relativamente rara na prática clínica; a maioria se manifesta na infância; entretanto, os médicos geralmente t&ec...

Socio-economic (SE) development has resulted in increased prevalence of obesity across all social groups in developing countries that is contrary to the effects of rising SE status on prevalence of obesity in the developed world. Obesity is not only associated with metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, diabetes but is also a risk factor for cancer and is responsible for increased c...

Conclusion: EBRT can yield favorable local control in HCC with IVC and/or RA involvement. Systemic treatment may be more indicated as factors reflecting tumor aggressiveness were significant, and first distant failure is common. PMID: 31977276 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Conclusion: It may be employed either alone or in combination with cryotherapy, existing chemotherapy, bypass surgery or radiations to achieve the optimal results in these patients. Nevertheless, there is a need to formulate a uniform dose and procedure to achieve homogeneity and develop references for clinical practices. PMID: 31977258 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Conclusions. Today biological specimens donated by 343 registrants with lung cancer are available at the RHTR. Among them, 255 donors (74%) are Mayak PA workers hired at the main facilities (reactors, plutonium production and radiochemical plants) in 1948-1982. These workers donated about 6024 specimens of lung tissues (tumor and tumor-free) stored mostly as formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue blocks (31%) and histology slides (64%); in addition they donated 1800 specimens of blood/blood components, buccal epithelium cells and sputum. Among histologic types identified for these lung cancer cases, adenocarcinoma and sma...

Authors: Álvarez Álvarez R, Cruz Jurado J, Del Muro Solans XG, Giner JL, López Pousa A, Martín-Broto J, Valverde CM Abstract Soft tissue sarcomas (STS) constitute a heterogeneous group of rare solid tumors associated with significant morbidity and mortality. The evaluation and treatment of STS require a multidisciplinary team with extensive experience in the management of these types of tumors. National and international clinical practice guidelines for STS do not always provide answers to a great many situations that specialists have to contend with in their everyday practice. This cons...

The present study retrospectively investigated archived formalin‑fixed paraffin‑embedded tissue samples from 12 patients at different stages of GI cancer [four with gastric cancer, four with pancreatic cancer and four with colorectal cancer (CRC)]. The stages were pre‑determined, according to differentiation pheno...
