Biomed Pharmacother. 2023 Jul 7;165:115132. doi: 10.1016/j.biopha.2023.115132. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEllagic acid (EA) is a kind of polyphenol compound extracted from a variety of herbs, such as paeoniae paeoniae, raspberry, Chebule, walnut kernel, myrrh, loquat leaf, pomegranate bark, quisquite, and fairy herb. It has anti-tumor, anti-oxidation, anti-inflammatory, anti-mutation, anti-bacterial, anti-allergic and multiple pharmacological properties. Studies have shown its anti-tumor effect in gastric cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, lung cancer and other malignant tumors, m...

Functional biochar fabricated from red mud and walnut shell for phosphorus wastewater treatment: Role of minerals
Environ Res. 2023 Jun 6:116348. doi: 10.1016/j.envres.2023.116348. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA novel functional biochar (BC) was prepared from industrial waste red mud (RM) and low-cost walnut shell by one facile-step pyrolysis method to adsorb phosphorus (P) in wastewater. The preparation conditions for RM-BC were optimized using Response Surface Methodology. The adsorption characteristics of P were investigated in batch mode experiments, while a variety of techniques were used to characterize RM-BC composites. The impact of key minerals (hematite, quartz, and calcite) in RM on the P removal efficiency of the RM-BC co...

Distribution of Aedes ( < em > Stegomyia < /em > ) cretinus in T ürkiye
CONCLUSION: This study determined the distribution of Ae. cretinus in Türkiye for the first time. Information on respective geographic distribution of Ae. cretinus is fundamental for effective control programmes. Further studies are needed to understand the biology and ecology of these species.PMID:37249116 | DOI:10.4274/tpd.galenos.2023.72692 (Source: Turkish Society for Parasitology)

Distribution of < em > Toxocara vitulorum < /em > in Cattle of A ğrı Region
CONCLUSION: It was determined that the prevalence of T. vitulorum in calves was high in Diyadin, Eleşkirt, Doğubayazıt, Hamur, Taşlıçay, Tutak and Patnos districts of Ağrı province. We believe that larger-scale studies should be conducted on the spread of this parasite, which causes significant low yields in cattle breeding.PMID:37249111 | DOI:10.4274/tpd.galenos.2022.60783 (Source: Turkish Society for Parasitology)
