Impact of circulating lymphoma cells at diagnosis on outcomes in patients with Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia
In this study (largest-to-date) evaluating the impact of CL on outcomes in patients with newly diagnosed WM, we did not find the prognostic utility of CL in WM. Future studies should explore the correlation of CL with other biological factors that impact the outcomes in WM patients. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia-like B cell lymphoma with MYD88 L265P mutation and t(14;18)(q32;q21) involving IGH < em > - < /em > MALT1
Leuk Res Rep. 2023 Aug 28;20:100389. doi: 10.1016/j.lrr.2023.100389. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTA 65-year-old woman was referred to the hospital for further investigation of weight loss, hyperproteinemia, and anemia. Serum immunofixation electrophoresis revealed IgM-κ M protein. Bone marrow examination revealed an increase in the number of B -cells with immunoglobulin kappa light-chain restriction. Although the MYD88 L265P mutation was identified in bone marrow mononuclear cells, which suggested the diagnosis of Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia (WM), a fusion signal of IgH-MALT1, which is commonly observed in extranodal marg...

Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 4440: Serum Paraprotein Is Associated with Adverse Prognostic Factors and Outcome, across Different Subtypes of Mature B-Cell Malignancies—A Systematic Review Cancers doi: 10.3390/cancers15184440 Authors: Maria Christina Cox Fabiana Esposito Massimiliano Postorino Adriano Venditti Arianna Di Napoli The presence of a serum paraprotein (PP) is usually associated with plasma-cell dyscrasias, Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia/lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma, and cryoglobulinemia. However, PP is also often reported in other high- and low-grade B-cell malignancies. As these reports are sp...

Osteolytic bone lesions as an initial presenting manifestation of adult acute lymphoblastic leukemia: a mini review
Ann Med Surg (Lond). 2023 Jul 20;85(9):4404-4409. doi: 10.1097/MS9.0000000000001065. eCollection 2023 Sep.ABSTRACTHematological malignancies can lead to bone lesions, and the most common example is the osteolytic lesions found in multiple myeloma. Cases of osteolytic lesions have been rarely reported in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Waldenström macroglobulinemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia, and myeloproliferative neoplasms. This review sheds light on the association between ALL and osteolytic bone lesions. To our knowledge, we found 15 cases of patients with ALL who de...

Waldenstr öm's macroglobulinemia with necrotic extremities: A case with challenging diagnosis
Necrotic extremities in our patient including glans, face, ear, and lower limbs. Key Clinical MessageWaldenstr öm's macroglobulinemia may begin with constitutional symptoms that are common in primary care settings and it is crucial for physicians to be aware of the potential complications of hyperviscosity syndrome and to employ the appropriate diagnostic methods in order to achieve better outcomes.AbstractWaldenstr öm's macroglobulinemia (WM) refers to a type of lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma distinguished by the hyperproliferation of plasma cells, lymphocytes, and plasmacytoid lymphocytes. The disease is primarily diagnose...

Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 4152: Leukemic Involvement Is a Common Feature in Waldenstr & ouml;m Macroglobulinemia at Diagnosis
In this study, 100 patients diagnosed with WM according to the World Health Organization (WHO) criteria were included based on the demonstration of MYD88mut in BM and the availability of PB multiparametric flow cytometry (MFC) analysis. Leukemic involvement by MFC was detected in 50/100 patients. A low percentage of mature small lymphocytes in PB smears was observed in only 15 cases. MYD88mut by AS-qPCR was detected in PB in 65/100 cases. In cases with leukemic expression by MFC, MYD88mut was detected in all cases, and IGH was rearranged in 44/49 cases. In 21/50 patients without PB involvement by MFC, molecular data were c...
