Vitamin D loaded into lipid nanoparticles shows insulinotropic effect in INS-1E cells
Eur J Pharm Sci. 2024 Apr 1:106758. doi: 10.1016/j.ejps.2024.106758. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIncreasing evidence suggests a beneficial role of vitamin D (VitD) supplementation in addressing the widespread VitD deficiency, but currently used VitD3 formulations present low bioavailability and toxicity constrains. Hence, poly(L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) nanoparticles (NPs), solid-lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) and nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) were investigated to circumvent these issues. PLGA NPs prepared by emulsification or nanoprecipitation presented 74 or 200 nm, and association efficiency (AE) of 68 % and 17...

Vitamin D and skin cancer: a controversial society. Literature update and review
Actas Dermosifiliogr. 2024 Mar 29:S0001-7310(24)00265-5. doi: 10.1016/j.ad.2024.03.019. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTVitamin D (VD) deficiency has been associated with various tumors. However, the association between VD and skin cancer is controversial. Although in non-melanoma skin cancer, adequate or even high levels of VD can be associated with a higher risk of developing tumors, this could be biased by the direct association between sun exposure and VD levels. Regarding melanoma, results are contradictory. Most studies analyzed state that higher levels of VD could reduce the risk of melanoma, be associated with melano...

Hypocalcemia in combination with hyperphosphatemia impairs muscle cell differentiation in vitro
ConclusionsOur results showed that a condition of hypocalcemia with hyperphosphatemia induced an alteration of muscle cell differentiation in vitro. In particular, we observed the reduction of myogenic differentiation markers, IGF-1 signaling pathway, and ERK phosphorylation in differentiated skeletal myoblasts. These data suggest that this altered extracellular condition might contribute to the mechanisms causing persistence of symptoms in patients affected by hypoparathyroidism. Oral lichen planus among patients from Lublin Region in relation to 25-hydroxy-vitamin D3 serum level
CONCLUSIONS: The study enhances relationship between reduced levels of vitamin D3 and lichen planus in patients with oral lesions. Thus, vitamin D3 control and supplementation may play an important role in the treatment of lichen planus.PMID:38549488 | DOI:10.26444/aaem/169166 (Source: Annals of Agricultural and Environmental Medicine : AAEM)
