IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 6865: Emotion Regulation Strategies in Educational, Work and Sport Contexts: An Approach in Five Countries
Izquierdo One of the greatest challenges in the domain of emotional regulation is comprehending the functionality of strategies and their utilization in various social contexts. In this sense, this study analyzes differences in the use and efficacy of regulation strategies, particularly of interpersonal strategies like altruism, social support, negotiation, mediation, regulation, and rituals, in samples of workers (N = 687) and students (N = 959) from Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Spain, and Uruguay, and athletes (N =144) from Spain. Participants answered questions pertaining to measures of affect or emotional regulation (MARS ...

Adaptation of the Interpersonal Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (IERQ) to Spanish in a Sample of Uruguayan University Students
The objective of this study was to translate the IERQ into Spanish and to analyse its psychometric properties in a non-representative sample of 323 Uruguayan university students (M  = 23.16; SD = 6.59). The evaluation of the construct validity through a confirmatory factor analysis reflected the same factorial structure as the original study and other adaptations (𝜒2(164, N = 323) = 452.10, p <  .000; 𝜒2/df  = 2.76; RMSEA = 0.074, 95% [0.066, 0.082], CFI = 0.96; TLI = 0.95) and the reliability analyses using Cronbach’s Alpha showed indices ranging from acceptable to good (0.73 −...

Distribution of Inorganic Contaminants Along the Coast of Ciudad de la Costa, Uruguay
Arch Environ Contam Toxicol. 2023 Aug 31. doi: 10.1007/s00244-023-01029-7. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe aim of this work was to study the distribution of relevant inorganic contaminants in environmental samples from Ciudad de la Costa, the second most populated city of Uruguay. For this task aluminum (Al), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni) and lead (Pb) levels were determined in sand, water, and plant material from six beaches that are located in the area. Analytical methods were successfully validated. Accuracy was ensured by using certified reference materials and spiking procedures. Average metal concentrati...

Types of Psychiatric Beds and Mental Health Services in 16 Latin American Countries, 1990-2020
CONCLUSIONS: The findings indicate that treatment capacity shifted from inpatient to outpatient and community care. Most countries had a bed shortage for acute psychiatric care, especially for children and adolescents and forensic patients. More comprehensive and standardized mental health service registries are needed.PMID:37644830 | DOI:10.1176/appi.ps.20220590 (Source: Psychiatric Services)

Co-circulation of Hepatitis E Virus (HEV) Genotype 3 and Moose-HEV-Like Strains in Free-Ranging-Spotted Deer (Axis axis) in Uruguay
AbstractHepatitis E caused by hepatitis E virus (HEV) is considered an emerging foodborne zoonosis in industrialized, non-endemic countries. Domestic pigs and wild boars are considered the main reservoir of HEV. However, HEV can also infect an ever-expanding host range of animals, but they exact role in transmitting the virus to other species or humans is mostly unknown. In this work, we investigated the spread of HEV in free-living and captive spotted deer (Axis axis) from Uruguay in a 2-year period (2020 –2022) and examined the role of this invasive species as a new potential reservoir of the virus. In addition, with t...
