Nephrologists perspectives on communication and decision-making regarding technique survival in peritoneal dialysis: an international qualitative interview study
Conclusion Nephrologists reported that technique survival in PD is influenced by patients’ medical circumstances, psychological motivation and positively influenced by the education and support provided by treating clinicians and families. Strategies to enhance patients’ knowledge on PD and communication with patients about technique survival in PD are needed to build trust, set patient expectations of treatment and improve the process of transition off PD. CONCLUSIONS: This research contributes to the validation of criteria defined in previous studies and can be used for the development of tools to monitor the prevalence and power of adolescent-targeted digital marketing. However, the importance attributed to type of product suggests that regulations should not exclusively focus on exposure to digital marketing specifically targeted at adolescents but also on exposure to marketing in general.PMID:38449441 | DOI:10.1017/S1368980024000533 (Source: Public Health Nutrition)

Expect the unexpected: a new species of killifish from a highly stochastic temporary wetland near Iguaz ú Falls (Cyprinodontiformes: Rivulidae)
We describe Argolebias adrianae, a new species of killifish from a small temporary wetland in the Paran á Forest ecoregion with no regular or predictable temporal pattern of water availability. This habitat is in the Lower Iguazú River Basin, known for its high fish endemism, but until now, only two species of Rivulidae were reported from it, but from the Araucarian Forest ecoregion. The genus Argol ebias was previously only known from the lower portions of the Paraguay, Paraná, and Uruguay basins and middle Paraná. The new species is distinguished from all congeners by its unique coloration, which includes a conspicuo...

Altitudinal distribution and body condition of migratory fish juveniles Megaleporinus obtusidens (Valenciennes) and Salminus brasiliensis (Cuvier) in the main channel of the Uruguay River, Southern Brazil
In this study, we analyzed the altitudinal distribution and body condition of the juvenile migratory fish Megaleporinus obtusidens and Salminus brasiliensis in the Uruguay River, a South American subtropical river. We used the presence/absence data and condition factor (K) of juveniles as indicators to try to characterize some recruitment patterns of migratory fish in the main channel of the Uruguay River. Gillnet sampling was conducted during two reproductive years, 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 (November and March of each reproductive year), in three Uruguay River stretches at different levels of altitude. The nets remained in...
