School as a contested territory for citizenship: An ethnographic study of illegal occupation and protest processes at a popular vocational education school in the chilean october.
This article presents the results of an ethnographic study conducted at a vocational school in the marginalized suburbs of the Santiago metropolitan area, focused on analyzing how the practices and discourses that students deployed at the school challenge the definition of school and the citizen practices inside of it, and through these, make the school a public space. The results show that the situated response practices undertaken by the students served to contest and transform the school space, redefining the concept of citizenship, in the sense that student mobilization challenged the conceptualizations of citizenship ...

The Usefulness of YouTube Videos Related to Endoscopic Sinus Surgery for Surgical Residents
Conclusions Overall, the quality of included videos was poor. OHNS residents should not rely solely or primarily on YouTube videos to learn surgical skills relevant to ESS. To maximize potential of online teaching, high-quality videos should be used to compliment other methods of teaching. Surgeon Upper Extremity Kinematics During Error and Error-Free Retropubic Trocar Passage
ConclusionsBladder penetration during MUS is associated with wrist dorsiflexion and elbow flexion but not internal wrist deviation and arm supination. Attending surgeons exerted control with the wrist and forearm, surgical trainees with the elbow. Our findings have direct implications for MUS teaching. Evaluation of a high fidelity cleft alveolar bone graft simulator
Cleft alveolar bone graft surgery is technically challenging to perform as well as difficult to learn and teach. A high fidelity cleft alveolar bone graft simulator was previously developed. However, further evaluation of the simulator is necessary to assess its efficacy. (Source: Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery)

Evaluating the impact of a teaching course for GP speciality trainees
CONCLUSIONS: Teaching skill courses alone are insufficient to address the ongoing challenges of enhancing the teaching role of GPSTs. Further work is now needed to explore multi-level interventions to promote the role of GPSTs as near-peer teachers to harness the mutual benefits to all involved.PMID:38615344 | DOI:10.1080/14739879.2024.2336211 (Source: Education for Primary Care)

'Bitesize' primary care focused education programme for GP trainees in their hospital component: an evaluation of a national teaching pilot
Educ Prim Care. 2024 Apr 14:1-5. doi: 10.1080/14739879.2024.2336218. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThere is need for a greater connection between General Practice and GP trainees in their hospital component of training. Currently, in Scotland, there are no national education programmes specifically designed for GP trainees during their hospital component of training. Our aim was to develop and evaluate the feasibility of a national online 'bitesize' education programme delivered live for GP trainees in their hospital component of training. The study also aims to assess the barriers to attending these teaching sessions and ...

How to design effective educational videos for teaching evidence-based medicine to undergraduate learners - systematic review with complementing qualitative research to develop a practicable guide
DISCUSSION: To the authors' knowledge, this type of comprehensive guide for video-based eLearning needs has not previously been published. The interviews considerably contributed to the results. Due to the grounded theory-based approach, in particular, consensus was achieved without the presence of a formal expert panel. Although the guide was created with a focus on teaching evidence-based medicine, due to the general study selection process and research approach, the recommendations are applicable to a wide range of subjects in medical education where the teaching aim is to impart conceptual knowledge.PMID:38615337 | PMC...
