Hopkins vs Yale vs Columbia
Hi everyone! I’ve been fortunate this cycle to have received offers from amazing schools, so I’m trying to get some additional perspectives before making a decision and would appreciate any thoughts! Costs are similar across the 3 schools and all similar distance to family (far) so those won’t be factors. Not sure about specialties either, so would like to keep doors open. Thanks! Hopkins Pros Arguably best reputation in medicine Best teaching and clinical training, amazing... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How late can I submit an additional LOR?
I'm in the process of getting letters ready, and so far I've had both my science prof LORs submitted on Interfolio (was most worried about getting these but it was surprisingly easy once I asked). My research PI has also agreed to write one. I was considering asking my work supervisor as well, since I've accumulated a lot of hours at my work study job and I'm on very good terms with him. However, something I'm concerned about is a letter from a non-science professor; he teaches non-science... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

WAMC: 515 MCAT, 3.417 cGPA, 3.1 sGPA, 3.67 SMP GPA (1 year), Texas Resident ORM
What are my odds for MD/DO, especially TMDSAS? I am taking an SMP now and was hoping for a higher score, now looking at 3.67 overall for a 35hr SMP. What are the implications of my SMP gpa? What schools are reasonable to consider for list? 200+ volunteering hours 100+ shadowing planning on working as scribe while applying, so 9+ months of clinical experience expected multiple years working as teaching assistant and tutor for chemistry. Edit: 515 MCAT was on my first try, my gpa in... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Career change options
I have been working as a psychotherapist for the past 15 years but would like to do something different. I also teach occasionally as an adjunct however do not see this as a main career due to the low pay and precarious working conditions. What are other work options with a doctorate in psychology in the US? I am leaning towards assessment, however I have never focused on assessment so I would probability need further training. Where would be a good starting point? I looked at Pearson's... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Application pending mcat non traditional app
I am graduating in december 2024 and am finishing my pre med courses over the summer bio 1 and bio2 and biochem over the fall which is a class I am self teaching via anki now since I will not have finished that course by the time I take mcat. I wish to apply to both MD and DO schools this summer pending taking mcat in mid august. If my application is verified and processed only pending the score is this still too late in the cycle to be worth it? I currently am a Marine veteran (5 years of... Would 10m liquid assets and being under 50 be enough for you to walk away or would you miss it too much?
Curious as to achieving that number at an age ( sub 50) where you can still maintain nearly all of your physicality how many would continue to work for the pure joy in the OR vs finding a new endeavour teaching, mission work, travel etc. I think its widely assumed that no one is going to flat out retire and plop their feet on the couch and let their brains rot from streaming, facebook, and tik tok. Opinion: Heartland Dental School Will Be A SUPERIOR School
Here's a controversial opinion. What if Heartland's dental school will become the best and most sought after dental school to attend? Let's explore this. Heartland has a vested interest in teaching students how to become dentists with hopes that these dentists will work for Heartland. While most dental school's would prefer to pacify students with prophys and other nonsense, and prevent you from doing too many complex crown/bridge, implants, surgery, heartland wants these students to be able...
