Great Breast Imaging Fellowship in West and Southwest?
Brand names are easy to identify, but which programs have above average to excellent: - culture & teaching - procedure volume and diversity - schedules (i.e. your time is well spent on learning breast imaging and your electives of choice and not taking general rads call) And any non-match community programs that are worth a gander? Surviving and thriving as workhorse šŸ“
m4 here. I fell way down my rank list on match day. Was a weak applicant with red flags... applied broadly to FM, IM, and psych. The program I matched at is known as a 'workhorse program' in a big city. Most of the residents are foreign grads, some Caribbean grads too. q4 24 hour in-house call, high patient volumes, weak teaching, little supervision. I spoke to some of the senior residents and they seem pretty burnt out and unsatisfied. Theyre literally just there to perform labor, not to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

NICU academic positions & research requirements
Hi all, I have a question about faculty positions and research requirements in neonatology. I'm finishing up my 2nd year of fellowship so starting to think about jobs. Basically, are there academic positions out there where you can focus solely on clinical service and bedside teaching? Plus maybe being a part of some committees? I enjoy research but don't necessarily feel the need to make it a huge part of my career, and definitely don't see myself being someone who spends the majority... Southern Illinois University (SIU) vs Drexel
Hey guys, I'm currently on a waitlist for my top school, but in the meantime, I have to choose between SIU and Drexel. I've listed a few pros and cons, according to a thread on reddit with Residency Director scoring, SIU and Drexel are literally next to each other, if that matters at all (both pretty low). SIU Pros Close to home Lower tuition (~60k per year) Dedicated teaching hospital Smaller classes (argument for being easier to stand out) Cons Name not... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

LIU vs. Midwestern Uni.
Iā€™m honestly tornā€¦ LIU: in-state for me (except tuition, but still less expensive). Great connections, close to hometown. Midwestern: Amazing teaching hospital and amazing campus, but more expensive for me than LIU. OOS for me and the cost of living around the school is also expensive. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Current internship situation - U Syd vs UQ
I am currently debating between U Syd and UQ. I've heard the teaching quality in U Syd is better (I can't confirm that), but I am worried about not getting an internship in NSW, in the highly likely case that I don't match to North America. I know there have been concerns that internships are becoming difficult to get in NSW. I have read previous threads and I am hoping to get a fresh take on the matter. So here are my questions, and I know that no one can speak about both universities since... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Teaching High School as a Extracurricular?
Hey so it appears that I am probably not going to get into medical school this cycle unless some WL magic happens. My old high school chemistry teacher came up to me yesterday at the gym and offered me to be a high school biology teacher next year as they are short on staff. I am considering doing so as I could make decent money to prepare for medical school, but it would take up most of my time. My application is pretty education based, in fact I had tutoring both privately and for a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Which degree for community college professorship?
Hi everyone, I'm trying to figure out what graduate degree I should be pursuing and hear some thoughts or insights into how I can make this dream a reality. My end goal is to teach psychology at a community college. My time at community college was incredible and I want to be like some of the really inspirational professors I had. I think university professorship, while appealing, scares me away a little with the countless anecdotes about publish or parish. Additionally to this, as a... Residency Help!
I am a Residency Program Director (PGY1 and PGY2) for 7 years and a clinical pharmacist. Recently I have received a few messages asking how I help pharmacy students get a residency interview without fear and uncertainty of the application process by utilizing my easy to follow residency application checklist. I am considering putting together a FREE video where I'll teach you everything I know about the pharmacy residency application process. Even though it is free, I really want to make... Basic orthopedic course for GPs
Hey all, I'm an orthopedic surgeon putting together a course teaching general practitioners everything there is to know about diagnosis and management of the most common musculoskeletal complaints that come into your clinic, including performing basic procedures/injections and coding/billing for them. I was looking for feedback. Is this something anyone would be interested in? Thanks for your time. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Thoughts on this Really Fun Extracurricular activity? Yay or Nay?
Does anyone have any thoughts about a really fun and exciting extracurricular activity I want to do this coming Fall where you move to Spain for eight months and get paid to teach English to students for 10-15 hours a week? It's a legit program called the "North American Language and Culture Assistants Program NALCAP" This would coincide with the same time interviews would be setup, so I am not sure if that would be a problem or not (though currently targeting virtual interviews). OPP Fellowship
What are yā€™all thoughts on doing a schoolā€™s OPP teaching fellowship in addition to field specific research to help match into a competitive specialty? I was not able to secure a research year in my specialty of choice and now I am scrambling with ideas. The fellowship will give me the year to build my research CV in addition to other EC. Midwestern vs. Tufts
Hi everyone, I am in the process of deciding between midwestern and tufts. I am interested in small animal, emergency medicine, teaching, and possibly PT or working with engineers to help create animal prosthetics. I visited Midwestern and loved it. I have been try to visit tufts but they only have tours when I work. Cost wise, they would be pretty similar midwestern maybe being a bit higher. Everyone is recommending tufts because its more established and known but I cant help but feel drawn... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
