What are they teaching in schools? Haters? Possibilities doubling?
So looks like there is such a thing as Western Pharmacy Exchange (WPE), this won best video.
1:10 "Haters might say that the job market is crumbling They just can't see that the possibilities are doubling".
Am I a hater? Maybe... Are the possibilities doubling? No.
What universe are these kids living in? What are these kids being taught? Should this be forwarded to the disinformation/misinformation czar?
Seems like it's the same old school propaganda: pharmacy is...

Schools with good rotations
Hi, I'm currently applying to med school, and I was wondering if anyone knew which DO schools have good rotations? Good is definitely open to interpretation, so please give me thoughts and opinions. I guess I would consider good rotations to be:
1) at a teaching hospital (preferably larger) with residents
2) have a variety of specialties at the hospital
3) most rotation spots being in a central location ie 90% of 3rd year students rotate in the same city/county hospital system
4)...

Questions to Ask Yourself and The Program/Residents When Choosing Endo Residency Programs to Apply For
Hi all,
My name is Dr. Gordon Lai, I was a former endo resident at UOP, and currently help teach the endo residents there.
I've posted a series of questions on my endo IG account (predoc_endo_tips) to help those who are in the process of applying for endo residencies.
Here is a sample list of some of the questions to ask yourself when choosing a program to apply for. If you are interested in checking out the additional questions to ask the programs & residents here is the link: Login...

How to do better on clinical reasoning for osce?
I did not perform too well on my school’s osce so the faculty wants me to do it again. It looks like I did well on interviewing and physical exams but I came up with wrong diagnoses/differentials based on what I have learned from my standardized patients during the interview.
Are there any good resources out there that teach you how diseases typically present in patients?
(ex : tuberculosis : hemoptysis, weight loss, night sweats, cough
heart failure : exertional dyspnea, peripheral...

Advanced endoscopy job search
Currently finishing up my GI fellowship starting advanced endoscopy fellowship in July.
My ideal job would be primarily advanced and semi academic. I know there are some places that are hospital employed positions, solely or primarily advanced, with some academic focus (teaching and research)
Some general advice for job hunting for advanced jobs would be great.
Specifically I was wondering 1. When to start looking for jobs 2. How I should go about reaching out to places.
Thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How to get a career in academics ?
Hello guys !
I have just matched into a IM community program (probably univ, affiliated). Hoping to go into fellowship.
What are the options for going into academics later on (teaching, research) ?
Do these positions require extra credentials ? And is it possible to get involved even after i matched into a community program ?
Thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Accepted MD/PhD applicant no longer passionate about PhD
Hey everyone. I am very grateful to be accepted to some MSTPs. When I initially applied, my only research experience had been my work in my undergrad lab. I didn't really understand what it means to be a PI. Now that I have worked for almost a year in a lab at an academic medical center, I see what my PI does on a daily basis. I have come to realize that I do not want to be a PI myself. It is simply not for me. However, I still want to teach and pursue academic medicine. With that being...

How will you escape the pit (the ER)?
A few years into practice and already starting to wonder if EM is sustainable. I’ve considered plenty of other options. The ones I keep coming back to are wound care, obesity medicine, and maybe something like the VA or teaching if a med school will hire me. In the current world though, I’m not sure what the best exit strategy is.
For those of you who plan to leave the pit, how are you getting out? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Research Year After MS2
Hi everyone! I'm interested in taking a year off after MS2 to do a research year. I'm not interested in a super competitive speciality (obgyn or IM, not interested in fellowship but would like to go to a good academic program), but am feeling really burned out mainly due to a mix of personal and family issues and think it may be the best move for personal reasons.
I took 2 gap years before med school to do teach for america for high school. I'm wondering if it will look like a "red flag"...

Jefferson vs Wake Forest vs Drexel vs Geisinger
Hello! I’m super excited that I got into several schools, but I’m having trouble deciding.
Jefferson
- pros: location (I’m from Philly and would like to be close to my family), good w specialities
- cons: super big
Wake forest
- pros: location (while far from home, I attended undergrad in NC and have friends nearby)
- cons: not near family
Drexel
- pros: location (in Philly)
- cons: recent closing of a teaching hospital, super big, not as well ranked
Geisinger
- pros: cheaper (by...

Getting good research experience as a nontrad
Hi all,
I'm curious to hear anyone's input on getting a foot in the door to do research as a nontraditional student so I can pursue even top-tier medical schools when I apply next year. I want to apply to these schools because the academic caliber really excites me - I love the thought of what doors could be opened to further study, teaching in clinical settings, joining med school faculty, etc., by attending Hopkins or Harvard or something. (And I think I have a shot at them - we'll see...
