Medical director responsibilities
For those of you that are med directors, what are your typical responsibilities? I feel like I am being asked to do above and beyond what most med directors do - I am working on a significant qI project and apparently they want more quality improvement. I teach residents, have med students, patient satisfaction and scores have gone through the roof. I am being told I have to do more. What types of things do you guys do? I feel that I go above and beyond. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advanced PhD student feeling unhappy
Hi all, I hope it’s okay to post here to seek some perspective or advice. I’m an advanced psychology PhD student with a little more than 2 years left of training. I’m feeling really unhappy with this path, and have been for about a year. Basically, I regularly find myself dreading the work (teaching, therapy, assessment, supervision, research) with a few bright spots when I’ve had a salient session with a client, for example. I often feel overwhelmed and inadequate nearly always, strained... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Class Examinations Not Board-Related
Can anyone speak to the reason or value for having system/course examinations that are not geared towards the board exams? This is not a subjective position on my program’s exams as our professors will state that they do not teach towards the board exams. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Respecialization from developmental to clinical psyc
Hello everyone! I am hoping for some advice on respecialization programs. I am currently working as a government contractor for the past 7 years and my PhD is from R1 university in California. I worked very hard for my PhD and was happy to find a job in southern ca working and using my degree. However, I came to realize that research all day every day without any mental reprieve (I.e., this was previously provided to me via teaching or running subjects) is just not for me. Don’t get me... Job Cobbler after Residency - Advice?
Hey Yall, I'm at a time now where I'm fielding multiple offers. The issue I'm running into is my hunger for cash is high and it's influencing my decision-making too much. I'm in no pressure to sign at this time (to their dismay). I enjoy teaching. I enjoy most psychiatry gigs (inpatient, outpatient, C/L, ED, outpatient). I am satisfied with life in general and I like to work. The thing is, I'm feeling like it might be better to put my so called "career" on hold after graduating, and just... Concerning changes in teaching hospitals for UTRGV School of Medicine
1. The UTRGV President Guy Bailey and the UTRGV Medical School Dean Dr. Michael Hocker published this statement on October 12, 2022. UTRGV/DHR Health Affiliation Read their statement carefully, as it will have a definite impact on those of you who are considering attending medical school at UTRGV. There has apparently been a formal statement from leaders at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance (DHR) as well, but it has gone out at first to doctors with privileges at DHR and not to... Post-Acceptance W or F in Biochem
Hi all, I've been very fortunate to receive 2 DO acceptances and an MD II this early in the cycle. I'm currently in Biochemistry, and I'm struggling. The professor (the only professor who teaches Biochemistry at my university) is infamous for giving extremely difficult and time-consuming questions - I know we complain about hard professors, but he's almost universally acclaimed as a terrible teacher (multiple probations, very low RMP score, and just generally infamous at my university among...
