by Somaya Aboelnaga, Katarzyna Czech, Micha ł Wielechowski, Pavel Kotyza, Lubos Smutka, Kennedy Ndue Addressing risks and pandemics at a country level is a complex task that requires transdisciplinary approaches. The paper aims to identify groups of the European Union countries characterized by a similar COVID-19 Resilience Index (CRI). Disease burden, risk factors, and trends of lip, oral cavity, pharyngeal cancers: A global analysis
ConclusionsAlthough global incidence and mortality trends reported an overall decrease, significant increases were found for older age groups and female subjects. Incidence increase may be due to the growing prevalence of lifestyle, metabolic risk factors, and HPV infections, especially in developed countries. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Emigration of Scientists From Czechoslovakia During the Soviet Domination
The objective of this article was to analyze the Prague Spring (1968), the period after the invasion into Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact Troops (1968), the period of cruel normalization (1968-1989), and the influence of Soviet domination in the Czechoslovak Republic on people with higher education. The invasion of the Warsaw Pact Troops into Czechoslovakia and the period of normalization had a highly negative impact on the life and work of the Czechoslovak people. Factors associated with psychiatric and physical comorbidities in bipolar disorder: a nationwide multicenter cross-sectional observational study
ConclusionThis cross-national study has reported novel estimates and clinical correlates related to both the comorbidity-free phenotype and the factors associated with psychiatric and physical comorbidities in adults with BD in Slovakia. The findings provide new insights into understanding of the clinical presentation of BD that can inform clinical practice and further research to continue to investigate potential mechanisms of BD adverse outcomes and disease complications onset. PFAS association with kisspeptin and sex hormones in teenagers of the HBM4EU aligned studies
Environ Pollut. 2023 Jul 21:122214. doi: 10.1016/j.envpol.2023.122214. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTExposure to Perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAS) can impair human reproductive function, e.g., by delaying or advancing puberty, although their mechanisms of action are not fully understood. We therefore set out to evaluate the relationship between serum PFAS levels, both individually and as a mixture, on the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis by analyzing serum levels of reproductive hormones and also kisspeptin in European teenagers participating in three of the HBM4EU Aligned Studies. For this purpose, PFAS compounds were ...
